The Role

We are looking for a leader for one of the core pillars in our Engineering organization, the Customer Experience team. As a consumer-focused business, everything we do is for our users, and this Director position is responsible for the development of our user-facing mobile app and the backend systems that power it! This role reports directly to the Head of Engineering and covers a broad swath of our engineering team, which includes areas like payment processing, identity management, and core mobile app usability. You will be accountable for top-level company metrics like user sign-up success and first-payment conversion, and will work closely with people across company functions to identify the most impactful projects and get them launched to our users. We are a rapidly growing company and one of your initial goals will be scaling the team. **Responsibilities**

+ Collaborating with colleagues across Product, Customer Support, Markets, and other parts of the company to convert business requirements into a product roadmap and deliver on it

+ Continuously improving and introducing new team processes to balance execution on user-facing features with investments on tech debt and developer velocity

+ Mentoring, coaching, and supporting the professional growth of everyone on your team, including supporting new managers; crafting career paths and goals for each team member

+ Presenting staffing needs, and participating in evolving the hiring process and growing a diverse engineering teamFostering an encouraging, inclusive, and hard-working environment

+ Have 2+ years of experience as an Engineering Director or an equivalent role that included managing managers in a hardworking environment

+ Are experienced working on a consumer mobile application, and driving user-facing metrics

+ Are experienced growing an engineering team and adapting to changing requirements in a rapidly scaling company

+ Can lead and inspire through others, but are comfortable going deep into software design decisions when necessary and provide clear technology strategies

+ Have extensive experience working hands-on as a Software Engineer in an agile environment ideally with exposure to a variety of technologies, especially our tech stack: Java / Kotlin, Spring Boot, React Native, AWS

+ Are a clear communicator, used to working with both technical and non-technical collaborators

+ Are committed to using your engineering skills for social good
