Our client is seeking a Communication Program Manager with extensive experience in Diversity and Inclusion.

Communication Program Manager
Location: Remote
Pay rate: $65/hr

All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on W2.

Summary:
The main function of a Diversity & Inclusion program manager is to plan, direct, or coordinate activities in such fields as engineering, research and development, financial systems and product roll-out, etc. or any other non-IT based project.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
  • Present and explain proposals, reports and findings to clients.
  • Recruit employees, assign, direct, and evaluate their work, and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
  • Analyze technology, resource needs and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.
  • Confer with management, production and marketing staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.
  • Review and recommend or approve contracts and cost estimates.
Skills:
  • Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage one's time
  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.
  • Knowledge of computer software, such as MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio etc.
Deliverables:
  • Support Senior D&I Program Manager in all internal D&I communications, curating diversity & inclusion content, and delivering key information to more than 6000+ global employees
  • Provide written and verbal D&I communication to entire team for executive leadership
  • Responsible for building out PowerPoint decks, presentations, and lead internal stakeholder meetings.
  • The candidate will preferably have a strong diversity and inclusion background.
  • Lead the D&I ERG Leadership and Business Unit Champ Community by developing new tools and resources for deliverables to be met
  • Ability to learn the language of the company, department, and ultimately leadership.
Goals first the 30-60-90 days:
  • 30 days: gaining access to all systems and program tools, onboarding on important workstreams they will lead, meet with stakeholders to establish collaboration rhythms. Begin partnering on program RoB management with PM
  • 60 days: Establish comfort and confidence in decision making aligning to overall program deliverables. Begin leading content curation and Comm RoB management for Leading RoB management for Core team, Extended Team, Champs, and Exec Steerco including agenda, deck development and follow up
  • 90 days: Independently lead communication and employee engagement workstreams outlined in project plan. Begin as acting as lead on calls with stakeholders across program initiatives. Own communication RoB and employee engagement strategy, ensuring all deliverables are met, manage various stakeholders and OKRs are met.

Typical Day in the Role
  • Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is leading the Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) initiatives for an organization in a large tech company focusing on new and emergent business in tech. The sponsor works with various stakeholders internally, helps facilitate v-teams and manage communities, and supports the evolution of the team's communications strategy.
  • Key projects: This role will contribute to various projects described further in the job description and typical day in the role below. The role will focus on program management.
  • Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of various activities every day - Will take on communities helping D&I champions, stakeholders
  • Manage questions that come in, develop agendas for monthly calls, ensure new programs are put into place and enacted, help lead development of communications tool on how to activate D&I communications within business. There will also be some operational support like building out decks for meetings or events, and supporting some event management (teams hosts 4-5 events a year and this role will collaborate with many stakeholders on event management).

Candidate Requirements
  • Years of Experience Required: 5-7 overall years of experience in the field.
  • Degrees or certifications required: No degree is required to be eligible for this role.
  • Disqualifiers: Candidates without experience in program management, executive engagement, and communications support will not be eligible for the role. The ideal candidate has a balance of all three of the above skills.
  • B est vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain previous experience supporting D&I initiatives. The ideal candidate has a diverse background and can flex into various roles, is a self-starter, and is still willing to learn no matter how senior they are.
  • Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on their ability to meet the 30-60-90 day plan, take ownership of their work afterwards, and coming to meetings prepared with good updates/blockers/etc.
Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience
  • Minimum 7 years experience with managing programs and operations support.
  • Minimum 5 years experience with Executive Engagement (managing meetings and communications with senior directors, VPs, and C-level executives)
  • Minimum 5 years experience with content writing & editing (newsletters & bulletins)
