The Skills Lab Coordinator is responsible for the operation, management, readiness, preparation and maintenance of the lab. The incumbent will implement skills lab curriculum, prepare faculty and work with residents to meet lab objectives. Flex schedule starting around 6:00am or ending around 6:00pm when needed.Responsibilities:Promote learning objectives of the skills lab curriculum for each residency program.Schedule and prepare lab for educational programs, for specialty-specific training.Provide and maintain inventories of supplies, instruments and equipment necessary for all learning experiences.Coordinate with nursing and external vendors/customers for utilization of skills lab.Provide technical support during skills labs.Coordinate and facilitate with Chief Academic Officer, Program Directors, trainees, other Cleveland Clinic programs for skills lab sessions including independent skills/procedural practice by trainee.Develop positive relationships with industry vendors.Collaborate and provide consultative services with Education Specialist and Residency Curriculum Committee relative to new skill sets required of residents (to include but not limited to ACGME program standards).Provide additional support to the Department of Graduate Medical Education (GME) team as assigned.Attend Graduate Medical Education Committee meetings to include SPEC (South Pointe Education Committee, Program(s) Evaluation Committee (in reference to Curriculum Development for skills labs, various program committees (as needed / required), and GME Department meetings, as itiate education opportunities to support hospital or departmental policy changes.Educate instructors on equipment use, handling and struct and/or assist with instruction of lab courses where qualified.Establish competency guidelines for specific skill requirements in collaboration with Program Director, course instructor, or based on Residency Curriculum.Support and serve as a resource to other skills centers in the area.Set up labs with equipment, machines, cadaver limbs, etc.Other duties as assigned.Education:Associate's Degree in a bioscience or related field required.Bachelor's degree preferredAdditional progressively responsible experience in a surgical skills lab or operating room environment may offset degree requirement.Work Experience:Two to five years operating room or surgical technician experience required. Must have knowledge of surgical instrumentation and technique, as well as knowledge of various models (mannequins), simulation, and human specimens.Additional progressively responsible experience in a surgical skills lab or operating room environment may offset degree requirement.Strong computer skills and experience with software applications.Solid communication, customer service and organizational skills, as well as the ability to multi-task.Ability to trouble shoot equipment issuesPhysical Requirements:Lifting (up to 40 pounds); standing in place (for up to 30 minutes); walking (up to 1 hour, dependent upon type of lab); pulling and pushing - moving all types of equipment within the Skills Lab or throughout the hospital, as needed (up to 100 lbs. - dependent upon type of lab and how many items are on a cart) High degree of dexterity to operate laboratory and office equipment, personal computer, and the handling surgical instrumentation.May require extended periods of sitting and frequent standing.Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision.Personal Protective Equipment:Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
