Loyola Marymount University . Supervise and manage stage facilities for the school and manage the Grip and Electric department, and scene/prop shop. This position reports to the Head of Production.Position Specific AccountabilitiesSupervise all stage facilities in the school including equipping, scheduling and maintenance of stage facilities on main and Playa Vista campus.Supervise one staff personnel: Administrative Technical Coordinator.Supervise all equipment “rentals” to student and faculty productions.Develop and oversee gear allocation plan between up to 25 advanced and 25 entry level productions each week.Maintain “rental” database and processes.Train, schedule and supervise all student workers in the Grip and Electric department and in the Scene shop.Construct/build items as needed for the departments within the school.Supervise/manage the prop department and its inventory.Supervise the maintenance and repair of all current and future grip and lighting equipment.Assist in developing budgets for all stages, Grip and Electric department and the Scene shop. Be responsible for operating departments within budget.Stay current in the technological developments in Grip, set lighting and stages.Build and maintain relationships with vendors.Develop and oversee annual safety workshops for first-year students.Develop and oversee safety procedures for Grip and Electric department, Scene Shop and stages.Maintain the department vehicle.Use department vehicle for school needs.Represent LMU within the motion picture and television community and professional organizations, trade shows, and serve on committees as required.Perform other duties as assigned or requested.Loyola Marymount University ExpectationsExhibit behavior that supports the mission, vision, and values of the university. Requisite QualificationsTypically a Bachelors degree or equivalent technical knowledge and professional experience in film production. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills and abilities to keep abreast of technological changes.Minimum five years progressively responsible professional experience in on-set grip/electric and/or cinematography.Experience in academic setting preferred.Valid California driver’s license and clean record.Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex highly technical information.Highly developed organizational and leadership skills information.Demonstrated computer competency.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
