MJ's widely respected and diverse Environmental Division is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to support our aviation client base and expanding market sectors. This position offers a unique opportunity to partner with our senior aviation and environmental technical experts to drive solutions for our clients and to grow your career. The location of this position is flexible depending on qualifications; however, MJ's Concord, NH, Acton, MA, Philadelphia, PA, Saratoga Springs, NY, or Binghamton, NY offices are preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead aviation and/or transportation projects requiring compliance with various state and federal regulations, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
  • Direct, manage, and coordinate with technical support team to deliver high quality technical reports and documents.
  • Supervise and motivate technical staff and promote career development and growth.
  • Communicate on a weekly basis with Regional Division Directors.
  • Track environmental documentation deadlines and grant application deadlines.
  • Maintain relationships with industry agencies such as the FAA, USACE, and state environmental agencies.
  • Develop aviation and environmental scope and fee documents in anticipation of Independent Fee Estimates.
  • Present at professional industry conferences, webinars and/or symposiums.
  • Promote the unique MJ culture and assist with new recruitment efforts.
  • Maintain and/or acquire licenses and/or professional certifications that are required or desired for the MJ client base.
  • Assist and/or lead with the preparation of NEPA documents, permit applications and technical writing.
  • QA/QC to NEPA documents, environmental studies, and permit applications.
Experience and Qualifications for Success:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Natural Resources, Environmental Engineering, and/or a directly related field.
  • Ten plus years of environmental consulting experience.
  • Working knowledge of airport planning and experience with aviation projects.
  • Five plus years of public presentation experience before agencies, reviewing boards and/or commissions.
  • Project management skills, including scope and fee preparation, invoicing, budget management, subconsultant management, project team management, and client communication.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Experience in business development, proposal writing, and preparing contracts.
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills.
  • Professional Geologist (P.G.), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Licensed Site Professional (LSP), Licensed Environmental Professional (LEP) and/or similar license or certifications are desirable but not required.
  • ENV SP and/or LEED AP certifications are desirable but not required.
  • PWS, CPESC, CPSWQ and/or QAWB certifications are desirable but not required.


MJ offers a comprehensive compensation package including salary, bonus, and Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) fully contributed by the firm, 401(k), medical insurance, technical training, and paid time off.

Pay Range

MJ is committed to ensuring a culture of fair and equitable compensation for all our valued employee owners. The pay range listed in this posting is an approximation and representation of our good faith effort to provide the anticipated salary range. The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, which may include, but are not limited to the candidate's work location, relevant experience, educational background, licensure or certifications, and capabilities compared to the requirements of the advertised position.

Pay Range: $90,000 - $125,000 per year
