The Organization

The People Organization (PO) is at the center of enabling business priorities, transformation, and readiness for the future. To continue to accelerate HP's efforts to be future ready, it's imperative to create capacity and agility in the People Organization. This requires a focus on scalable and standardized solutions, updating our partnership model, and allocation of resources to high-priority areas at pace. To do this, the People Organization is standing up a new team - Enterprise Initiatives and Planning.

The Role

You will be part of this newly created team within the People Organization that has a bold mission - to lead strategic initiatives that drive impact across the enterprise. You will collaborate with peers and stakeholders in the People Organization and across the enterprise to develop solutions to common people priorities that will accelerate progress against key goals. You will be encouraged to apply creative and innovative thinking to solve customer pain points where no or sub-optimal solutions exist today. By bringing robust program management, management of change and communications skills to this work, you will successfully build, lead and deliver an integrated approach for tackling these initiatives.

This role will report into the VP of Enterprise Strategic Initiatives.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as the program manager for enterprise-wide priorities tied that are strategic "future focused" initiatives led by the People Organization. This means framing the strategy, defining the plans, and driving operational execution for initiatives under your purview.
  • Develop and implement clear charters, governance, roadmap, success metrics and management of change approach for a strategic initiative working with senior leaders in PO and the business to shape the focus of the initiative for maximum impact to the enterprise.
  • Build the business case for each initiative to articulate the enterprise benefits, assist with stakeholder alignment and investments required for successful execution.
  • Define, establish and lead the team of essential contributors required to execute on the business outcomes.
  • Manage a review cadence with project teams to assess progress against milestones, issues and areas requiring additional support.
  • Leverage the expertise of PO peers (COEs, Client Facing People Partners, business) to develop and implement effective change management strategies.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure that solutions are implemented in a way that minimizes disruption and maximizes adoption.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of solutions implemented to adjust plans as needed.
  • Partner in preparing progress updates for leadership reviews.

  • Program / project management firepower: Ability to plan and manage multiple, complex, cross-functional projects in a fast-paced environment and see them through completion at a high level of quality, speed, and impact.
  • Analytical skills: Be an analytical problem solver that is comfortable tackling ambiguous, complex opportunities and conducting analyses to shape recommendations.
  • Strategic thinking with ability to turn a strategy and vision into an operational plan for execution.
  • Effective communicator with ability to use data to tell a compelling story.
  • Experience managing stakeholders and priorities in a matrixed environment with multiple influencers.
  • Effective collaborator and partner: Ability to effectively lead large initiatives through others by fostering a productive, creative and results oriented approach. Successful at building alliances and relationships with stakeholders at all levels to rally support towards common goals.
  • Business insight / judgment: Ability to prioritize focus of effort and inquiry with an eye to business impact / outcomes.
  • Communication skills: ability to communicate complex concepts and quantitative insights concisely, with actionable "so-what."
  • Continuous improvement mindset: ability to seek out and implement internal or external best practices. Intellectual curiosity, with a strong desire to learn new processes and systems.
Complexity of Initiatives
  • Works on projects where enterprise level alignment may not exist and influences for incremental investment or reprioritization of resources.
  • Works on efforts where industry or market data may not exist, and sees the opportunity to "set the standard" for HP and, possibly, the industry.
  • Works on efforts where HP processes may not exist or are sub-optimal and sees the opportunity to "think outside" the box to streamline internal processes in order to do what's right for the business and its people.

Education and Experience Required
  • MBA or equivalent graduate degree.
  • 15+ years with large scale program management and implementation (strategy, planning and execution).
