Title and Summary

Director, Operations, Public Policy

Overview: This role supports essential initiatives for public policy, focusing primarily on the Americas, and coordinates resources and engagements to ensure all operations function at peak efficiency. This includes aligning priorities across global policy teams, drafting talking points, planning and tracking engagements, coordinating with the business, and presenting results to senior leaders. The candidate must be a superb writer, creative thinker, hard worker, and exemplary problem solver.

Role: Organize domestic and global policy engagements and track progress across teams. Prepare briefing documents, talking points, and background materials for advocacy engagements. Draft presentations, speeches, and talking points for leadership and executives. Work with internal stakeholders, policymakers, and industry experts to determine opportunities and risks to the Company from specific political, legislative, and regulatory developments. Write and distribute internal communications of legislative and political developments. Organize and coordinate various policy operations and activities. Act as the liaison between Public Policy and internal business units to ensure consistent communication and alignment. Oversee various compliance obligations for the public policy team, focusing specifically on U.S. advocacy reporting requirements. Ensure timely and effective completion of projects and initiatives across the global policy team. Create and maintain systems and processes to streamline operations. Implement and track metrics of global policy initiatives. Coordinate strategic business initiatives and drive to completion.

All About You: Excellent written and spoken communication skills coupled with the ability to communicate at a high level, including explaining complex policy matters to senior executives across business units and to external stakeholders. Organized and hard-working. Innovative policy thinker who can formulate and implement policy solutions that will benefit Mastercard’s business interests. Strong analytical approach to problem solving, ability to develop creative and practical solutions to complex problems, able to deal with short deadlines, and work productively in high pressure situations. High political acumen with a thorough understanding of public policy. Proven ability to build collaborative working relationships with both internal stakeholders at the global, regional, or local level. An ability to work with a wide range of personalities and interests, including industry colleagues, academics, community leaders, and internal executives. Entrepreneurial spirit with proven ability to operate in a corporate environment and experience operating in a matrix organizational structure. Knowledge and experience of the payments, financial services, technology sectors are a plus.
