The Position

The Director of Career Services leads and directs the daily operations of career services and assigned personnel. The position engages in strategic planning and also develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive career and employment services and programs for Ocean County College students at the Toms River Campus, Ocean County College Manahawkin Campus and online. In addition, this position provides OCC students with information and resources needed to make informed decisions regarding academic and career plans. This position will also be expected to adhere to compliance guidelines and training requirements associated with the Campus Security Act (CSA).

Staff Duration: Full Time 12 months

What You Will Do

1. Provides leadership and directs the daily operations of career services and assigned personnel; prepares and maintains the annual operating budget and monitors monthly activity in all career services' accounts.
2. Engages in strategic planning and also develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive career and employment services and programs for the College; Develops assessment, evaluation, and benchmarking strategies to rate, analyze, and improve the performance of the center. Determines annual and ongoing priorities for career services and ensures the priorities align with the College's mission and strategic goals.
3. Identifies student needs for information and advising on career planning, employment, transfer, and scholarships. Collaborates with designated college personnel and creates programs, services, and publications to meet those needs. Assess programs and services for effectiveness, including participation.
4. Plans job fairs and other career events; Conduct special career-related and other career campaign seminars.
5. Manages and oversees the coordination of student internships and externships; collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop experiential learning opportunities for OCC students.
6. Develops and fosters relationships with external stakeholders for the purpose of expanding employment opportunities for students and also serves as a representative of the College with local employer organizations.
7. Maintains strong relationships with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Counseling Center, Athletics, OCC Manahawkin Campus, Community Services, as well as other key stakeholders.
8. Maintain, personally or through designated staff members, the online resources; OCC landing pages to ensure Career Services landing pages are current
9. Maintains primary responsibility for managing and expanding current career CRM. Develop, manage, and maintain the database system for scheduling appointments and tracking office usage for areas to expand and improve.
10. Chair the Career Services Advisory Committee.
11. Related projects and duties as assigned.

The Successful Candidate Must Have

1. Master's Degree, ideally in business or closely related field.

2. Five years of progressively responsible career counselling and/or student employment experience in a higher education environment that required the delivery of excellent advising and student service skills.

3. Proven track record of attaining established student career placement goals.

4. Four years of supervisory, project or team leadership experience.

5. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, a student database system and online sites and platforms; ability to independently create detailed reports, documents, presentations and deliver basic training on required software and systems.
