Mennonite Village is a well-respected not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) with a 70+ year history. We are currently seeking a Bus Driver to work Monday, Wednesday, and Friday day shift with an occasional weekend for special events. This position provides bus transportation services for Mennonite Village residents, including special events and MWF local Albany route, ensuring transportation system and passenger safety.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Operates buses in accordance with ODOT standards.

* Operates buses for the MWF transportation program to Albany area.

* Operates buses for trips scheduled through transportation coordinator.

* Tracks residents using the bus, where they want to go, when they want to be picked up and notifies appropriate staff if a resident fails to comply with arrangement. Tracks situation until resolved.

* Assists residents with getting onto and off the bus.

* Safely secures residents belongings and equipment.

* Secures residents in wheelchairs in compliance with ODOT and ADA standards and with tie downs provided.

* Works with staff to monitor appropriateness of residents using the transportation program independently.

* Operates gasoline, diesel, or electrically powered multi-passenger vehicles.

* Checks the condition of a vehicles tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order.

* Complies with traffic regulations in order to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.

* Follows safety rules for boarding and exiting buses.

* Picks up and drops off residents at neighborhood locations and monitor time schedules.

* Reads maps, and follows written and verbal geographic directions.

* Regulates heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for passenger comfort.

* Escorts residents to location when appropriate.

* Protects and promotes residents rights, including confidentiality, privacy, dignity, and freedom from abuse.

* Follows facility policy and procedure for reporting and documenting any incidents/accidents or variances of standard operations.

* Keep bus interior and exterior clean for passengers.

* Maintains knowledge of first-aid procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- High School diploma or equivalent.

- Must have a valid Commercial drivers license with passenger endorsement

- Registered with the ODOT drug testing program.

- First aid and CPR certified.

- Ability to use radio and cell phone for communication purposes.

- Ability to lift from 50+ pounds.

- Ability to stand, bend, and turn at the waist for extended time periods.

- Ability to communicate effectively by phone, in person, and in writing.

- Good interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work with confidential information appropriately.

- Ability to make decisions independently and to represent Mennonite Village in a professional manner.

- Ability to operate gasoline, diesel or electrically powered multi-passenger vehicles

- Ability to read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions.

- Knowledge and ability to secure residents in wheelchairs in compliance with ODOT and ADA standards.

- Good response orientation - ability to choose quickly between two or more movements in response to two or more different signals (lights, sounds, pictures).

- Ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.

- Ability to see details at a distance and at close range, to see under low light conditions and to see objects or movement of objects to one's side when the eyes are looking ahead.

- Ability to judge which of several objects is closer or farther away from you, or to judge the distance between you and an object.
