Delivers advanced professional and technical respiratory care to patients of all ages with real or potential life-threatening illnesses presenting to all units for care. Able to administer and monitor mechanical ventilation to all age groups. Able to draw and analyze arterial and capillary blood gas samples. Able to run quality controls on the blood gas analyzers. Collaborates with the medical staff to be able to facilitate patient care. Accountable for the effective and efficient functioning of the department during the assigned shift with minimal direction from the Director/Manager. Supervises and instructs Respiratory Therapists of the assigned shift. Ensures that the Respiratory Therapist comply with the objectives and policies of the hospital and that age/developmentally appropriated care is given in accordance with unit standards. Provides excellent customer service. May be needed to work beyond the regular tour of duty as assigned by the Director/Manger. May be able to act as a designee for the Director/Manager. Position Qualification: (Training, Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities) Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred Five (5) years' experience in respiratory care in a hospital setting Three (3) years' of critical care experience. One (1) year NICU experience. One (1) year supervisory experience preferred Excellent physical assessment and critical thinking skills Demonstrates leadership and time management skills Required Licenses/Certifications: Current State of Florida License as CRT, RRT or RCPCC is required Current BLS and ACLS certifications from American Heart AssociationPALS and NRP certifications required About Steward Health CareNearly a decade ago, Steward Health Care System emerged as a different kind of health care company designed to usher in a new era of wellness.
