About the Role The Company is seeking a Head of Device Engineering to join a dynamic, well-funded start-up at the forefront of next-generation bioengineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and leading the development of novel sensor architecture, with a focus on sequencing and decoding biomolecules to advance the field of precision medicine. This role involves overseeing device and sensor development, process engineering, and nanofabrication, and requires a hands-on approach to shaping the company's technology. The Head of Device Engineering will work closely with internal and external teams, including leaders in engineering and chemistry, to ensure the successful evolution of the company's solid-state biosensors.Applicants for the Head of Device Engineering position should have a proven track record in process or device engineering, particularly in thin-film transistor (TFT) fabrication and cleanroom microfabrication. Experience in areas such as photolithography, PVD/CVD, dry/wet etch, and a background in semiconductor device principles are essential. The ideal candidate will have the ability to enable applications in rapid therapeutic development, disease biomarker identification, and drug selection for patients. Strong leadership, communication skills, and a collaborative mindset are also key, as the role involves growing and leading small teams. While not mandatory, experience with bioengineering technologies such as EGTs, ISFETs, and Bio-FETs, as well as an advanced degree in a relevant field, are highly valued.
