The Health Education Manager is responsible for the overall management and supervision of health education programs and services. S/he will also represent NEMS in community education/ outreach activities and counseling patients in a variety of settings.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversees the development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of the bilingual health education programs and activities on preventative health care, chronic disease management, Western medicine, and other related topics
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates patient education programs by conducting needs assessments; consulting with physicians, evaluating departmental and administrative requests to understand patient education requirements
  • Oversees the development of curricula, toolkits, health education programs and materials
  • Oversees the development of bilingual educational materials on relevant health topics and reviews translation for accuracy and appropriateness
  • Develops outreach strategy and plans
  • Creates annual goals and objectives of all health education programs
  • Collaborates with other departments to develop grant applications and program proposals to obtain funding sources
  • Monitors service quality and programs effectiveness to ensure compliance with funding requirements
  • Travels to NEMS clinic sites to conduct health education programs and events
  • Direct supervision of a workgroup involving responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods, and personnel. Responsible for carrying out supervisory/managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and hiring of employees; planning, assigning, scheduling, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Performs other job duties as required by manager/supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of two years experience in community health education, health communication or related field
  • Completion of a four degree from an accredited university, Masters degree highly preferred
  • CHES certification highly preferred
  • Experienced with interfacing community partners to create health education programs
  • Prior experience in program planning, design and implementation that incorporates evidence-based strategies and cultural competency

LANGUAGE:

  • Fluent in English: reading, writing, speaking) required
  • Fluent in Chinese: (Cantonese/Mandarin) reading, writing, speaking required

STATUS:

This is an FLSA exempt position.
