Job Description

SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of PBI Formula Grant, the Mentoring Program Coordinator is a twelve-month position funded through an award from the U.S. Department of Education's Predominantly Black Institutions (PBI) Grant Program. The Coordinator will determine the needs of Bloomfield College and its students and design and implement a campus-wide mentoring program.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • In collaboration with the Director, develop program policies and procedures for recruitment and training of mentors and mentees.
  • Create digital flyers/advertisements to generate program interest, participation, and support.
  • Assist with the recruitment and matching of mentors and mentees.
  • Coordinate mentoring programs on-campus.
  • Make weekly contact with mentors and mentees.
  • Maintain records of attendance and outcomes for mentors and mentees.
  • Organize initial and ongoing support and training sessions for mentors and mentees.
  • Supervise program volunteers and provide assistance to all program participants. (Inclusive of supervising peer-mentors/student ambassadors office hours; creation and delegation of their respective responsibilities.)
  • Collaborate with campus partners for logistical and operational needs for kickoff events, trainings, workshops. etc.
  • Participate in staff development opportunities and follow research in the mentor field.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Human Resources or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience developing, implementing, and/or administering mentoring programs.
  • Experience supervising volunteers or other individuals; demonstrated ability to work well with diverse populations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Able to advocate for students and connect them with appropriate resources, strong sense of commitment, and ethics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required.
PREFERRED:
  • Master's degree from an accredited College or University in Education, Business Administration, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Three years of professional experience developing, implementing, and/or administering mentoring programs.
  • Willing to work as part of a team and possess discretion, sound judgment, and solid decision-making skills.


This is a grant funded position and salary is contingent upon funding based on U.S. Department of Education's PBI Formula Grant Approved Budget.
