Position Requirements The AR Manager is responsible for direct supervision and oversight of the AR team for multiple states and payors including specialized teams such as Credit Balance, Over/Underpayment and Correspondence teams. In addition, this individual will work closely with the AR Director to direct workflow, quality, and education of AR staff. In partnership with the Supervisor of RCM, responsible for hiring, monthly productivity, quality audits and performance reviews of all designated staff. Responsible for identifying carrier related denial trends, maintaining carrier issue logs on problem carriers and meeting or exceeding department goals. In partnership with the Regional Senior Director of RCM and Director of RCM, supports change management to develop and participate in proactive initiatives and strategies to improve collection rate and cost per case trends in coordination with other revenue cycle departments and external operations. Primary Responsibilities include: Oversees the Supervisor of RCM in the interview processes and hiring of qualified employees as well as staffing levels proportionate to the volume of accounts to preserve optimum efficiency and superior collections. Approves the recommended actions regarding employee relations matters from the Supervisor of RCM for approval in accordance with departmental and corporate policies and procedures. Initiates the evaluation and the performance of subordinate personnel in a timely and effective manner. Identifies denial and underpayment trends in collaboration with the Supervisor of RCM and follow-up staff to develop improvement initiatives; communicates with payers to resolve issues and foster working relationships Works with Supervisor of RCM to develop, review, and revise policies and procedures to maintain the efficacy of the department In partnership with the Supervisor of RCM, establishes departmental objectives and works with staff to set individual goals; monitors staff performance, performs reviews, and compiles productivity reports for manager Meets regularly with leadership from other departments to review performance, align strategies, identify best practices, and improve collections In partnership with the Supervisor of RCM and Director of RCM Education; oversees the recruiting, hiring, and training practices; monitors and provides performance appraisal for new staff Evaluates staff performance utilizing a variety of factors including collections, indicators, productivity, attendance, and the quality of work performed. Manager provides regular, consistent, and fair feedback to employee. Fosters collaborative environment that encourages teamwork, communication, performance recognition, and attention to goals; works to achieve and maintain low attrition rates Manager must review and approve adjustments timely. Manager must be able to lead a collection team by organizing follow up efforts and supporting the process of collections. The Manager must be familiar with collection law, managed care contracts and appeals processes to ensure collectors are effective in their efforts to collect on accounts. Maintains KRONOS attendance tracker recording PTO, absences, tardiness, etc. along with approving hours worked. Schedules staff to ensure full coverage and distributes work to maximize efficiency. Approves overtime only when necessary and within the budget. Evaluates leadership team performance utilizing a variety of factors including collections, indicators, productivity, attendance, and the quality of work performed. Manager provides regular, consistent, and fair feedback to leadership team. Manager must be able to identify trends in denials or payer aging. The Manager must be able to identify the root cause of the trend and develop a plan to address any identified issues. Utilizes reports to evaluate A/R, identifies issues and establishes plans to address issue. Meets with team monthly to communicate updates to the team and to facilitate communication between team members of important issues. Encourages all team members to actively participate in the meeting. Effectively communicates with staff, and leadership as needed. Identifies critical issues and keeps leadership informed of the issue and provides possible solutions in addition to communicating any problem. Collaborates with all teams, CBO, and other departments, to ensure efficiencies and strong communication and escalation of issues and/or enhancements. Education/Experience: High School or equivalent, Bachelor’s degree preferred 5 or more years of RCM experience 1-3 years management experience CPC or CCS-P preference *The ideal candidate will be in traveling distance to Southern California
