Position Summary

The Ambulatory Triage Nurse uses the nursing process to triage telephone calls from patients and families in order to assess, arrive at appropriate care disposition, and advise for each situation. The role uses approved protocols to guide decision making, works cooperatively with health care providers and clinic staff to ensure resolutions that best serve the patient and family, educates parents/patients on managing their sick child in the home setting, and assists clinicians in communication with patients as directed. The role works during normal clinic hours which may include evenings and weekends.

Qualifications:

Current Minnesota RN License.

* Current BLS certification.

* One (1) year telephone triage experience, with pediatric-specific triage preferred and one (1) year of patient care experience in an ambulatory setting, pediatric setting preferred or at least five (5) years of recent pediatric nursing experience.

* Excellent computer skills preferred.

* Demonstrated high level customer service skills with pleasant telephone manner.

* Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

* Demonstrated ability to multitask.

* Demonstrated ability to be calm and effective during high pressure situations.

* Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize.

* Demonstrated ability to accurately navigate an EMR system.

* Maintain professionalism at all times.

The posted pay range represents rates for a grouping of multiple jobs within a salary grade. We carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Children's Minnesota.
