**Engineering - Chesapeake, VA - Full Time**

* Ensure that fire systems are designed with as much accuracy and detail to enable the field installation to be completed with as few design errors as possible.

* Be proficient in AutoCAD and HydraCAD fire protection software.

* Performs field surveys and attends project specific meetings as required.

* Must adhere to OSHA, MSHA, and company safety policies and procedures.

* Develop detailed shop drawings and hydraulic calculations for review and approval by engineering, Architects, and AHJs.

* Lists all materials for fabrication purchase.

* Track the project's progression until permitted and attend production meetings to review project status and any issues from production that may need to be addressed.

* Obtains permits as required, including all related duties such as preparation, delivery, corrections, etc.

* Maintain proper documentation for work performed.

**The Hiller Companies, Inc. is a national leader in the fire protection and security industry and has an immediate opening for a qualified Engineering/Design Department Manager in Chesapeake, VA**

The Engineering Manager will supervise the team responsible for designing fire protection systems to include Sprinkler, Fire Alarm, Security and Special Hazards. This is a working position, and the Engineering Manager will be responsible for handling overflow design work. The Engineering Manager will report in directly to the General Manager.

***Required Qualifications:***

* High School Diploma or equivalent required. College or technical school certification preferred.

* MINIMUM 5 years of experience in Fire Protection design and hydraulic calculations.

* REQUIRED NICET Level III in a Fire Protection Discipline.

* Working Knowledge in AutoCAD.

* Hydra-CAD knowledge desired.

* Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, and Outlook.

* Ability to interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards to the design/layout of the fire systems based on the building type, construction type, hazard classification, and architectural features.

* Some field installation experience is desired, but not required.

* Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.

* Mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply basic concepts in algebra and geometry.

* Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

* Self-starter that can work with little or no supervision.

* Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and the ability to learn quickly.
