CSI Companies has an immediate opening for a Medical Assistant/Health Support Technician for a longstanding client in the Jacksonville area. The Health Support Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations within the healthcare facility. This position primarily involves greeting patients, confirming appointments, managing administrative tasks, and assisting healthcare providers as needed. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Contract to Hire $18-20/hr Monday - Friday 8am-5pm On Site - 32217Key Responsibilities: Greet patients upon arrival and confirm appointments. Inspect and copy insurance cards and photo IDs, while accurately identifying and collecting co-pays, deductibles, and self-payments for services rendered. Explain and obtain necessary patient consent forms, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Receive and direct phone calls to appropriate personnel, and coordinate communication with other departments, physicians, and external organizations as required. Verify patient demographic information through interviews, medical history recording, and confirmation of the purpose of the visit. Prepare patients for examination by conducting preliminary physical tests, measuring vital signs, and summarizing patient history. Assist physicians with referrals and authorizations for medical or lab tests as per their orders. Maintain and update patient information in the electronic medical record system, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Organize clinic exam rooms, including cleaning and stocking supplies, and communicate inventory and equipment needs to relevant staff. Perform cashiering functions related to co-payments and other patient payments/collections, in addition to handling routine clerical duties. Provide administrative support to providers and management staff, assisting in the resolution of registration, scheduling, and appointment-related issues. Complete any other duties as assigned by supervisors or management. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred. CMA License Previous experience in healthcare administration, medical office management, or customer service roles preferred. Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems (e.g., EPIC) and basic computer skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and external contacts. Knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of healthcare billing processes is an advantage. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if required.
