We are currently seeking a full-time and onsite Warehouse Laborer and Operations Clerk in our Warehouse Operations department. This position is responsible for the effective operation of the mail room and warehouse. This position pays $16.00 hourly.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Receive, inspect, sort, pick-up, and deliver mail and/or freight items for the PFW campus.
  • Pick up USPS mail and packages daily from the local USPS branch.
  • Track freight, incoming parcels, certified mail deliveries made utilizing data tracking system.
  • Assist internal and external customers via phone, email, and/or in person.
  • Operate box trucks, pick up trucks, fork lifts, pallet jacks, carts, dollies, and hoists to lift and move materials.
  • Unload, receive, and prepare for distribution all incoming shipments.
  • Move furniture, appliances, lab/ shop equipment, supplies, salvage materials, and computer salvage components to and from various locations around campus.
  • Assist in the operation of campus Surplus Store and online auctions.
  • Organize warehouse space and palletize items for storage.
  • Assist in the safe removal, relocation of salvage or scrap materials according to University, departmental , REM, and OSHA regulations.
Required Qualifications:
  • A High School diploma or GED.
  • 2 years combined work experience in the following: warehouse, shipping/receiving, surplus property environment, scrapping operations, retail sales, cash/credit/debit card handling, mail and package delivery, computer knowledge, customer service.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management software.
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift, move up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Able to work outdoors in temps ranging from upper 90 degrees to below freezing.
  • Must be able to obtain (and maintain) forklift certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Must have valid driver's license and remain in compliance with the Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records policy.
