WellStone is North Alabama's most comprehensive behavioral healthcare provider serving over 13,000 persons annually throughout Northern Alabama, with offices in Huntsville and Cullman. We are a non-profit community organization that offers a wide range of services for every phase of life, from children to older adults.The Medical Assistant in our WellStone Emergency Services facility (WES) will care for patients with a potential substance use disorder (SUD) or mental health crisis. This candidate will work with our WellStone Emergency Services team (WES) and the treatment team to support our patients medical and psychological needs. This will include ensuring proper documentation as required by state and federal law, intake of patients and their initial medical stats, responding to messages and calls and communicate them based on urgency. This position is full-time 3rd shiftWhat we're looking for:Must be certified by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with some experience in the field.Provide a copy of your current Medical Assistant Certificate along with your application.Must hold a valid Alabama Driver's License and maintain a driving record acceptable to the agency's insurance carrier.Must maintain a minimum of $300,000/$100,000/$50,000 personal automobile liability insurance coverage on private vehicles.Must be able to pass a criminal background check.Knowledge of principles, techniques and standards in a clinic setting.Knowledge of vital signsWillingness to provide services in a non-traditional setting.Ability to relate warmly to clients and provide person-centered careAbility to recognize in individuals any adverse reactions to medication.What you'll be doing:Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and record the information in the EHR.Document physical assessments of consumers. Maintain complete and accurate documentation.Observe all safety and security procedures.
