**Material Handler Job Summary Below:**

Operates propane or electric powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forks and clamps to lift, stack, or move product, equipment, or materials between loading, processing, and storage areas in a warehouse or factory.

**Primary Responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:**

* Stages load for transport by stacking, arranging, and securing loads

* Positions forks and other lifting devices under or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, rolls, products, or materials and transports load to designated area

* Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device

* May supply production with materials as needed

* Unloads and loads tractor trailers when required

* May manually load or unload materials onto or off pallets, skids, or lifting devices

* Moves levers, turns steering wheel, and presses pedals to drive truck and controls movement of lifting apparatus.

* Stages loads for transport by stacking, arranging, and securing loads.

* Unloads and stacks materials by raising and lowering lifting devices.

* Supplies production with materials as needed.

* Tends and maintains baler room

* Tends and replenishes pallet stretch wrap equipment

* Inventories materials

* Weighs materials or product and record weight and other data on tags, labels, or shipping paperwork

* Performs routine maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging or exchanging batteries, replacing liquified-gas tank, and fueling

* Performs routine inspections of vehicles

* Performs other clerical duties.

* Assists other departments as needed.

**Required Skills/Abilities:**

* Ability to follow directions and work well in a team environment.

* Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items received.

* Ability to safely and efficiently operate material handling equipment (forklift & clamp truck).

* Basic understanding of warehouse procedures.

* Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

* Knowledge of use with Microsoft Office Suite/inventory software to maintain records and input data.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Basic computer and data entry skills.

* Visual color discrimination, ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color.

* Ability to work under minimal supervision.

* Good attendance

**Education/Experience:**

* High School Diploma preferred, technical school education, or equivalent.

* 1-2 years of related shipping experience preferred.

* Training in forklift and clamp truck safe operating procedures.

* Experience working in a fast pace manufacturing environment.

**Color Management**

* Successfully passing a vision assessment

**Language Skills**

* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

**Mathematical Skills**

* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

**Reasoning Ability**

* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.

Frequently required to use eye, hand and foot coordination when making load change. Hand coordination is required of both hands for simple grasping.

+ The employee is frequently required to lift under 10 pounds and between 40-45 pounds.

+ Frequent/strenuous physical effort (lifting, moving heavy objects, etc.) required.

+ Must be able to push, pull, and carry up to 40 pounds.

+ Personal Protective Equipment is required. This includes; steel toe shoes, safety glasses, ear protections, and gloves. Other PPE may be required for specific tasks.
