Per Diem Registered Nurse III - Intensive Care Unit

Under direction of a Clinical Coordinator, the incumbent will provide direct or indirect nursing care to hospital patients in the Intensive Care Unit and perform related work as required.
Examples of Duties
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
Utilizing nursing process, plans and participates in providing daily patient care;
Follows prescribed orders concerning treatments and medications;
Makes patient observations, records and reports all pertinent information;
Provides follow-through on critical thinking;
Assists in examination and treatment;
Provides unit organization and is responsible for completion of all delegated and indicated nursing duties;
Assists in training, supervision and evaluation of ancillary personnel and in the training of new personnel; and
Performs other related duties as required.
Typical Qualifications
These are entrance requirements to the exam process and assure neither continuance in the process nor placement on an eligible list.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE
Per Diem Registered Nurse III -requires at least five (5) years of full time professional registered nursing experience, including two (2) years of full-time experience in an Intensive Care Unit. These employees may be appointed to work on specialized short-term projects such as hospital accreditation or on other projects that require specialized administrative duties and responsibilities.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
Must possess and maintain a current, valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of California.
Must possess a current, valid Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification by first day of employment and maintain it thereafter.
Must possess a current, valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification by first day of employment and maintain it thereafter.
Must successfully complete the Health Care Agency Pharmacology examination within three (3) months of employment.
