Design West Technologies Inc. of Tustin, CA has an immediate need for a Mechanical Engineering Manager. Reporting to the CTO, the successful candidate will build and lead a team of mechanical engineers. The role works closely with executives, project managers, engineering leaders, and production personnel to assign resources to fill required mechanical engineer tasks within the company. This position will also serve as the senior mechanical engineer within the company and will provide technical advice and analysis on the most important projects. Our team is driven by a passion for pushing the boundaries of technology.Responsibilities:Provides leadership, guidance, mentorship, performance feedback and support to all mechanical engineering staffManage and assign mechanical engineering resources to project roles and requirements as outlined by the Engineering/R&D directorsFunction as mechanical engineering lead on the most important product development programsDevelops and executes functional strategy within their teamReports on metrics that measure the impact of mechanical engineering team on the larger organization and uses the metrics to guide decision makingParticipates in business development activities by reviewing proposal content and attending callsWorks with peers to identify and execute on improvements to capabilities within the mechanical engineering functional areaStay abreast of changes in technology that will improve the company's technical capabilitiesCreate leaner, more efficient and more profitable business practicesSkills, experience and qualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 6 years of engineering work experience, including 2 years of experience in a leadership capacity, or a combination of education, training, and relevant work experience preferredEngineering experience in low volume/high mix engineering and manufacturing environments desiredExtensive experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and CAD/CAM applicationsKnowledgeable about Materials: Strengths, Mechanicals, Chemistry, Metallurgy, and plasticsExperienced with Non-destructive examination (NDE) testing and applicationExperience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)Experience building and test hardware prototypes, iterating designs to optimize performance and manufacturabilityExperience developing and implementing testing procedures to verify the functionality, reliability, and safety of hardware componentsKey Competencies for the role:Optimizes talentOrganizational savvyCommunicates effectivelyManages executionFocuses on performanceMakes complex decisionsElectrical-Mechanical aptitudeBuilds collaborative relationshipsARE YOU READY TO JOIN OUR TEAM?
