This role provides administrative support to the Chief of McLean's Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (Dr. Daniel Dickstein) in all aspects of Divisional matters, including clinical programs, research, education, and philanthropy, assisting in routine tasks with minimal supervision and helping with special projects when needed.McLean and its Child Psychiatry Division are regularly ranked among the top US psychiatric providers, with sites in Bemont, Arlington, Cambridge, and Middleborough MA.The Senior Administrative Assistant provides a strong customer-service focus to work collaboratively with leadership and staff of our programs, those of other McLean Divisions, and those at MGB and beyond.The Senior Administrative Assistant is responsible for the operational and logistical functions within the Division including time-reporting, scheduling, purchasing, check requests/reimbursement, travel approvals, new faculty onboarding, annual performance evaluations for program leadership, and other support functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree with 5-years administrative experience OR equivalent directly related experience, typically 10 or more
SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
  • Strong interpersonal skills with maturity, good judgment and discretion necessary to interact with colleagues at all levels of McLean, other MGB hospitals and Harvard Medical School, as well as Trustees, donors and other individuals key to the academic mission and success of McLean Hospital.Incumbent must also be comfortable interacting with people in academic, business and scientific settings within McLean, the Harvard community, and beyond.
  • Pleasant and mature personality is key to ensure that visitors to the Chief Division of Child Psychiatry's office are welcome. Must be able to work with trainees, clinicians, scientific investigators at all stages of professional development both at McLean and in the greater academic community
  • Excellent phone manner needed to deal with a wide range of callers.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and material with discretion, exercise sound judgment.Be professional in appearance and demeanor.
  • Must be able to work independently and take initiative when interacting with other departments of McLean or MGB.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
