This position will work in the Professional Services Group of the Facilities Management Division of Zion National Park, directly with Engineers (Civil, Mechanical, Systems, Roadway), Landscape Architects, and Engineering Technicians as an Associate Project Manager. Regular interaction will take place with Journeyman level Electrician, Concrete, Carpentry, Plumbing, HVAC, Irrigation, Trails, and Roadway technical experts. Planned tasks include, but are not limited to:

Participating in weekly facility management project planning sessions

Assisting in development of facility construction project concepts and designs

Assisting with facility construction project inspections

Monitoring a project's quality, scope, time, cost, resources, communications, risk, and integration across other projects parkwide

Working with Compliance as it relates to meeting project design and project execution policy, law, regulatory requirements

The Intern's primary responsibility will be to complete at least 23 formal contact hours in project management in pursuit of meeting eligibility requirements to take the professional exam for the Project Management Institute's (PMI) Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification. Multiple projects will be leveraged to ensure the broadest exposure to and participation in project development, quality, scope, time, cost, resources, communications, risk, and integration management. The intern will be partnered with a professional who works daily in facility and construction project management to perform the same tasks and supporting tasks.

The intern will participate in weekly group discussions in project management and will be required to schedule 23 hours of project management specific training with the park's certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Division Chief over Facilities, Architecture, and Engineering Management, to satisfy the (CAPM) examination eligibility requirement in education.
