Incumbents may perform all or most of the primary accountabilities listed below. Specific tasks, responsibilities or competencies may be documented in the incumbent's performance objectives as outlined by the incumbent's immediate supervisor or manager.1. Following prescribed instructions, cleans DME. Additionally, this role performs the most basic repairs on durable medical equipment, which generally entails replacing a part or piece of equipment, e.g., a wheel on a wheelchair.2. Utilizes an automated inventory system to scan equipment to capture and update the status and location of durable medical equipment from "cleaning" to "maintenance/testing" etc.3. Following prescribed instructions, inspects durable medical equipment to ensure that it is patient ready. 4. As detailed in the standard operating procedures, cleans and sanitizes the warehouse. 5. Monitors the inventory system and may conduct a physical count to ensure an adequate supply of parts. Alerts site leadership in the event the parts need to be ordered.6. Regular and reliable attendance at the employer designated work site is an essential function of this job.7. May scan durable medical equipment as it arrives back to the warehouse from "pick-up".8. Follows the safety program and adheres to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines to reduce work-related injuries.Marginal or Additional Functions1. May assist with minor equipment maintenance that may entail the use of standard tools.2. May assist DME Technicians with preparing, loading and unloading trucks/vans.3. Ensures proper storage of equipment and supply inventory.Supervisory and Managerial Responsibility•Supervisory/managerial responsibility is not applicableKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesEducation, Licensure or Certification:•High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred Work Experience or Related Experience:•The ability to utilize basic tools (e.g., wrench, screwdrivers, small hand held scanners, etc.) to repair durable medical equipment•Experience in the healthcare or medical fields in which incumbents have worked with durable medical equipment is preferred•Previous warehouse experience is preferredSpecialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:•A basic level of mechanical skills are necessary to work with DME equipment as described above•The knowledge and ability to operate smart devices (e.g., smart phone, tablets), computers and hand held scanning devices are required•The ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions is required to ensure that standard operating procedures are followed to clean and maintain equipment and the warehouse.•The ability to protect and maintain the confidentiality of patient protected health information and follow standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with CHAP and HIPAA is required•A safety orientation is required to perform work as described safelyEquipment:•Basic tools e.g., wrench, screwdrivers etc. to set up and repair parts on durable medical equipment•Smart devices (e.g., smart phone, tablets), computers and hand held scanning devicesTravel Requirements and Conditions•No travel is requiredWork Environment, Conditions and Demands•On a very frequent basis (75%-100% of the day), incumbents are exposed to weather as a daily condition of the role, both in the field and in the warehouse•On a very frequent basis (75%-100% of the day), incumbents are required to handle and transport compressed oxygen•Incumbents may be periodically exposed to odors and dust from used equipment (about 50%-75% of the time), particularly when cleaning dirty equipment•Incumbents may periodically experience occupational exposure to bodily fluids, feces and blood (approximately 50%-75% of the time) when handling dirty durable medical equipment•Incumbents may seldom experience occupational exposure to other potentially infectious materials (approximately 0%-25% of the time) when handling durable medical equipmentPhysical Requirements and Demands•Incumbents must have the ability to lift, carry, push and pull durable medical equipment that weighs up to 80 lbs. intermittently but consistently throughout the majority of their day (50%-75% of the day)•With assistance, incumbents must have the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and handle awkward sized/shaped durable medical equipment that weights between 90 lbs. and 120 lbs. Generally, this may occur 2-5 times per week•Incumbents must have the ability to lift, maneuver and assemble and disassemble large and awkward durable medical equipment (e.g., beds) that weight up to 80 lbs. intermittently but consistently throughout the day•For those sites that dispense liquid oxygen, incumbents are required to lift, pull, push, carry and maneuver containers weighing up to 100 lbs.
