Job Description:

JSL is looking for a Desktop Publisher/Tech Writer to join the team in supporting Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division with servicing the Littoral Strike and Warfare programs including Gun Weapon System, Littoral Combatant Ship (LCS) Sea Frame, Tomahawk, LCS Mission Modules, SUW MM/PSE, Surface to Surface Missile Module (SSMM), LCS Multi-Mission Surface Combatant (MMSC), DDG-1000, USCG Athena, and the Aegis Program both US and Foreign Military Sales (FMS).

  • Perform technical management of manuals which includes but is not limited to; proofreading, collaborating on analyzing edits, implementing redlines (authoring), and troubleshooting format as required.
  • Perform technical editing of manuals which includes but is not limited to; proofreading, collaborating on analyzing edits, adjudicating redlines (authoring), and assisting troubleshooting format as required.
  • Provide Analysis support for Engineering technical data and documentation to support and maintain configuration control of hardware and software products for existing configurations, new releases, change requests, and reports of defects.
  • Conduct technical investigations and make recommendations to improve fleet readiness through improved sustainability by addressing technical data and training issues.
  • Support analysis and tracking of engineering inputs and metrics to support technical requirements and program reviews including:
  • Performance and Organizational management metrics
  • Program resource support plans
  • Integrated Master Schedules
  • Program Briefings and Technical papers
  • Provide continuous improvement of processes by analyzing/revising data and standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct meetings to analyze work pending, barriers, deadlines.
  • Provide high level assistance and updates to program office POCs.
  • Create reports to track pending and future work as well as deadlines.
Requirements:

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in the following Microsoft Office software: Excel (Pivot Tables, Gantt Charts, Formulas), Word, Project, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Must be able to obtain valid U.S. government secret clearance.
  • A broad professional knowledge of logistics concepts, principles, and standards
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Self-starter mentality who will take initiative to learn, grow, and produce results with minimal supervision.

Preferred Skills:

  • 1-3 years of experience with DoN technical writing or editing
  • 1-3 years of experience or exposure to any of the listed programs above
  • Current U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
