The Quality Manager is a resource of knowledge and expertise for their project and is a mentor and trainer to other members of the project team to foster pride of work and accountability for actions. The Project Quality Manager may be called upon by the Division Quality Director if they possess special knowledge that may be useful on another project.
The Project Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing the quality-focused efforts of the Project Team through facilitating the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of the various quality components in the McCarthy Field Procedures Manual applicable to the specific project(s) to which they are assigned.
As part of the McCarthy's Quality Program, the Quality Manager will have the opportunity to identify and document Best Practices and Internal Technical Resources on their project. The Quality Manager will document the value of the quality for their project, as well as the cost of poor quality.
The Quality Manager is full time position out of the Phoenix office and reporting into the Quality Director.
Construction Preparation Activities
Oversee the development by the Project Team of the Project Site Specific Quality Plan (SSQP) using the template provided on the Management System including working with the Project Team to:
  • Identification and documentation of Key Project Quality Challenges; determination of needs for additional review, and the planning and coordination for effective completion of the subsequent activities.
  • Assist the project team in meeting the requirements for Mock-Ups/Sample Construction and facilitate the development of a schedule for timely execution
  • Assist in the determination of the requirements for the Project Procedures, Pre-Installation and 1st Installation Meetings and assisting the team to develop a schedule for timely execution.
  • Assist in the development of the Test and Inspection (Verification) Logs for components, systems and assemblies in conformance with the format included with the SSQP template.
  • Assist in the development of the Close-out Documentation Log in conformance with the format included with the SSQP template.
  • Help coordinate and identify the need for Temporary Protection Measures in support of the Water Infiltration Prevention Program
  • Work alongside the Quality Director to facilitate the engagement of a Building Enclosure Consultant to review the design documents in accordance with our Building Enclosure Coordination Program.
Construction Activities
  • Build a partnership with the project team and project leadership through consistent and effective project visits
  • Onboard new project team members on McCarthy Quality program and follow up with coaching sessions on specific topics as needed
  • Scheduling and conducting Quality Assessment
  • Assist in the review of submittals by responsible member(s) of the McCarthy's project staff and help verify accuracy and completeness of document prior to submission to the Owner. Verify maintenance of the Submittal Log portion of the SSQP.
  • Work with the appropriate member(s) of the McCarthy project staff and subcontractors to implement requirements for Mock-Ups/Sample Construction.
  • With the appropriate member of the Project Team, help schedule and participate in the Pre-Installation Meetings listed in the SSQP as well as any other Pre-Installation Meetings that may be deemed necessary.
  • Assist project team to create a program for inspection and verification of key equipment as it is delivered to the site.
  • Assist project team to ensure 1st Installation Verifications in accordance with FPM Section 2.08. are implemented
  • Assist project team to ensure On-Going Verifications and Testing are accomplished in accordance with FPM Section 2.09.
  • Assist project team to ensure implementation of the Testing Program and verify that Test and Inspection (Verification) Logs for components, systems and assemblies are maintained.
  • Assist project team to coordinate the use of the various specialty consulting services identified for the project.
  • Work alongside the project team and verify the resolution of Non-Compliances in accordance with Part 9 of the SSQP.
  • Meet with the Quality Director on a regular basis and provide status report on job progress and critical items
  • Aid in the reporting and resolution of any Project Quality Incidents.
Project Close-out Activities
  • Verify that Close-out Documents are compiled according to the contract documents.
  • Help facilitate the Lessons Learned process.
Qualifications
  • 7+ Years of experience working on large healthcare, science and technology and/or higher education projects, $20 M+.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering required or equivalent experience
  • Extensive knowledge of construction principles/practices required.
  • Experienced dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and/or self-perform work.
  • Ability to work with all construction groups—management, owners, trades and subcontractors
  • Ability to motivate, develop and direct people as they work.
  • Must have excellent communication, organizational, decision-making, leadership, and problem solving skills.
