The Chair of the Graduate Nursing and RN to BSN Programs is responsible for the development, implementation, promotion, and daily operations of the graduate and RN to BSN programs in accordance with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, State Board of Nursing regulations, and the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education standards.

The Chair reports to the Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences and leads the Graduate Nursing Program in a manner consonant with the University’s mission and objectives, and reinforces the department’s pursuit of academic excellence. The Chair encourages effective teaching; maintains an administrative environment conducive to the work and collegiality of the department; and fosters scholarship and other professional activity by the faculty. The Chair shall represent the graduate nursing and RN to BSN programs in all dealings with University officials and committees, and may delegate appropriate duties to faculty or committees within the department. The position includes teaching responsibilities.

This position will be a 9 month faculty appointment with a 12 month secondary appointment as Chair. This faculty position is contingent on the incumbent serving in the Chair role.
Essential Duties
  • Within the framework of accreditation criteria and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, State Board of Nursing regulations, oversees the planning, implementation and evaluation of the RN to BSN, MSN, post-graduate APRN certificate, WOCN certificate, and DNP curricula according to the Nursing Program Systematic Plan of Evaluation.
  • Encourages effective teaching; maintains an administrative environment conducive to the work and collegiality of the department.
  • Assesses student performance and makes recommendations regarding student progression.
  • Chairs the Graduate Admissions and Academic Standards Committee of the Graduate Nursing Program and prepares statistical summaries and periodic reports on admissions data for the Graduate Nursing Program.
  • Chairs the Graduate Nursing Curriculum Committee and reviews course syllabi to ensure alignment with accreditation and other regulatory criteria.
  • Teaches one course/semester.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Manages special projects and/or serves on committees as requested by the Dean.
  • Completes annual reports and other reports as needed for accreditation and other regulatory agencies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimal qualifications include an earned doctorate in nursing or a related field, registered nurse license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and a demonstrated record of professional and clinical experience, teaching, and curriculum development.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.
Preferred Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of demonstrated teaching experience in graduate education, experience in curricular development, implementation, and evaluation, and demonstrated administrative leadership abilities.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours
  • Evening and weekend work may be necessary during certain times.
