SUMMARY

The Director of Automation Shops and Solutions holds a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the structure and operation of the organization's production facilities, with a specific focus on standardization and expansion. This role is responsible for shop operations; planning, scheduling, sourcing, production and shipment to ensure product quality, cost and delivery requirements are met. This role is also responsible for managing overhead, as well as variable and direct labor costs to meet or exceed annual budgetary and prior year expenses. This role collaborates with operations to identify, recommend, specify and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost.

JOB DUTIES

  • Develops and executes an aggressive strategy to standardize facility operations to enable process optimization, capacity expansion, and maximum revenue generation.
  • Develops and implements comprehensive manufacturing, engineering, and project management strategies aligned with business objectives for a competitive edge.
  • Oversees processes, capacity planning, and resource allocation for maximum efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Establishes and maintains strict quality control measures, meeting industry and customer standards.
  • Collaborates with supply chain teams for a reliable and cost-effective supply chain.
  • Fosters a culture of improvement by implementing continuous improvement principles for streamlined processes.
  • Manages manufacturing budgets to achieve financial targets.
  • Drives a culture of safety and ensures a safe working environment by adhering to regulations and standards.
  • Attracts, retains, and develops high-performing design and assembly teams.
  • Implements new technologies for enhanced capabilities.
  • Sets up policies in material usage, capacity planning, production methods and employee relations to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Defines, implements, and maintains a clear operating cadence for the design and manufacturing operation, establishing key performance indicator (KPI) targets and clear accountability to monitor performance.
  • Defines and delivers effective utilization of labor and equipment to meet capacity requirements.
  • Defines and prepares capital asset plans in alignment with both annual operating and strategic plans.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree and ten (10) years of related experience or an equivalent combination.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional level of drive and passion for results.
  • Able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to coach and provide feedback to direct reports.
  • Ability to influence and motivate.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
