The right person will be responsible for complex engineering design tasks, project delivery, and interacting with other design staff, managers, and mentors.

Responsibilities:

  • Executes assignments requiring a basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals and the application of these fundamentals to the production of engineering work
  • Work on projects that typically include bridges (prestressed concrete and steel plate girder), retaining walls, box culverts, and other transportation-related structures
  • Executes a variety of engineering tasks including preparation of reports, investigatory studies, engineering design calculations, and detailing of structural elements
  • Translates design criteria and standard details into a completed design
  • Prepares designs in compliance with company design procedures as well as client standards and code requirements
  • Is proactive in clarifying directions on project design issues, and proceeds on projects with a clear understanding of schedule and budget
  • Completes tasks on or before the scheduled amount of time and within budget
  • Attends project team meetings
  • Maintains frequent communication with project team members to verify design requirements and identify problems that arise
  • Seeks assistance from others when assigned tasks fall outside of knowledge or experience
  • Performs field-related tasks to gain field experience, broaden understanding of construction techniques, and develop practical engineering skills, in order to enhance one’s engineering design abilities

Qualifications

  • Candidates shall possess a BS or MS degree in civil engineering
  • 5+ years of progressive technical experience, diversified knowledge preferred
  • Civil engineer with bridge design and transportation engineering focus
  • EIT certification required
  • Prior experience in consulting engineering or construction industry, PennDOT experience a plus
  • Ability to take responsibility for technical work content
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills, including report writing
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
