Concrete Sealants is looking for a technically-minded, problem solver who enjoys interacting with others in the concrete construction industry. The technical resource engineer (TRE) will provide technical support for the application and use of all Concrete Sealants products. They will be a liaison with the Concrete Sealants sales team for the engineering/specifying community. In a broad sense, the TRE will be responsible for submitting and maintaining product approvals for State DOTs and municipalities. They will also represent Concrete Sealants as a member of trade and specification associations, and they will assist customers with the implementation and use of Concrete Sealants products.

Essential Functions

1. Provide technical consultation and product implementation guidance for product applications both internally to colleagues and externally to customers, engineers, and end users.

2. Assess new construction, repair, and rehabilitation projects and develop detailed project-specific solutions for achieving watertightness, MICC protection, acid-resistance, etc. in accordance with project specifications and on-site logistics.

3. Generate product takeoffs by assisting customers in the selection, application, and use of new and existing products.

4. Contribute to the product development team in their planning, organizing, and directing of new products.

5. Help promote new and existing products to engineers, specifiers, and end users.

6. Respond to technical questions from colleagues, customers, engineers, specifiers, and end users.

7. Assist the sales team in developing new business and the introduction of new products to the market.

8. Help represent Concrete Sealants at various local and national trade shows.

9. As necessary, represent Concrete Sealants on relevant industry committees in organizations, such as:

National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA), American Concrete Pipe Association (ACPA), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), American Concrete Institute (ACI) national and local chapters, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Sealants, Waterproofing & Restoration Institute (SWRI), Precast/Prestress Concrete Institute (PCI)

10. Manage product listings and maintain approvals, as necessary, on state and municipal Qualified Products Lists (QPL) and Approved Products Lists (APL). Submit revisions to specifications as appropriate to include Concrete Sealants products.

11. Be actively involved in the oversight, development, maintenance, submittal, and implementation of detailed product submittal packages, technical specifications, and other technical collateral to support product promotion.

12. Organize and facilitate Lunch and Learn opportunities within the industry.

13. Build relationships with customers as well as DOT, municipality, and industry representatives; and provide them with ongoing technical, product, and specification support.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience

1. A bachelors degree in engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

2. A strong analytical and math skills.

3. Demonstrated knowledge of concrete materials and production practices.

4. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint at a minimum.

5. Experience with drafting software like AutoCAD is strongly preferred.

6. Willingness to learn, ask questions, and advance technical skills.

7. Must exhibit the characteristics of a leader, emphasizing the servant leader model.

8. Must be organized and detail-oriented.

9. Excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong presentation skills.

Work Environment

This job primarily operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. In addition to the office environment, the TRE will occasionally spend time in the Concrete Sealants on-site manufacturing facility and laboratories. While traveling, the TRE should expect to work in other environments including but not limited to precast concrete manufacturing plants, construction sites, and convention centers. While performing some duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites may be loud.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is typically required to stand or sit, and occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The schedule will be adjusted as needed to meet the needs of the company. During times of travel, working beyond the typical schedule is expected. In addition, as necessary, electronic communication may be required during typical off-duty hours.

Travel

Annualized travel of 25% is to be expected. The concentration of travel may be higher in January through March for industry conferences and exhibitions. Travel will be by car or airline as necessary. Some travel is expected on weekends for industry meetings.

Salary Range

$95,000 - $115,000 based on relevant experience. Annual bonus, elected health care (including dental), and profit sharing benefits are also included.
