Duties/Responsibilities
Call insurance companies to follow up on claims
Appeal and resubmit unpaid medical claims for inappropriate denials. Adjust claims as needed
Review explanations of benefits (EOB) for appropriate contractual write-offs and other adjustments
Answer patient billing questions and take payments
Collect and post payments for services rendered
Required Skills/Abilities
Are proficient with computers and learning new softwares (data entry, multiple systems at once, etc.)
Don't mind training from the ground floor and love to learn new things
High attention to detail
Good communicator and can relate well with others
Can accept continual feedback and commit to continual improvement

Preferred Attributes
Healthcare billing or insurance experience is desired
Strong experience submitting and making adjustments to medical claims
Strong knowledge of insurance and medical terminology
Knowledge of ICD 10
Knowledge of claim form 1500
Knowledge of EOB interpretation, deductible and coinsurance
Knowledge of different types of health insurance
Knowledge of referrals and authorizations
Position Details
Schedule assigned by supervisor, generally during weekdays 7am - 4pm or 8am-5pm
Hourly pay, FLSA non-exempt, eligible for overtime
Physical Demands
Prolonged sitting up to 8 hours a day; stand and walk; talk and hear both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 15 pounds on occasion. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes viewing multiple computer screens, close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Viewing images and operating computer devices constantly.
