About the Role The Company is seeking a Vice President of Clinical Development for Rare Diseases to lead the late clinical development strategy, planning, and decision-making within the therapeutic area. The successful candidate will collaborate with leaders in research, early development, medical affairs, and commercial functions to advance the rare disease pipeline. This role involves championing and contributing to business development opportunities, prioritizing staff engagement and development, and fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion. The VP will also be responsible for providing strategic, scientific, and people leadership for the rare disease development pipeline and marketed products, overseeing late clinical programs, and establishing key strategic partnerships.Candidates for this role should have an MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school, at least five years of industry or academic research, and a minimum of six years of managerial experience. Preferred qualifications include a medical degree with a relevant sub-specialty, board certification or equivalent, and ten or more years of combined clinical research and teaching/patient care. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the scientific method, clinical trial design, regulatory guidelines, and commercialization practices. They should be adept at leading and motivating teams in a complex, multi-functional matrix environment and have a proven track record of problem-solving and decision-making. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to diversity and inclusion are also essential.
