Key Responsibilities:

The Simulator Operations department at the Flight Training Center provides maintenance and engineering support on the Flight Simulator Training Devices. The Senior Managers provide leadership and direction to the entire department. The Senior Managers are involved in the Simulator Operations daily maintenance and engineering tasks, planning for future projects, manpower shift assignments, and new Flight Simulator Training Device acquisitions.

  • Departmental Management: Manage operation in accordance with FAA Approved SQMS operating manual on a daily basis. Manage FSTD projects (modification/upgrades), and acquisition of new FSTDs.
  • FSTD Qualification: Ensure FSTD operations comply with 14 CFR PART 60 requirements. Monitor FSTD performance metrics, analyze trends and take appropriate action to maintain an acceptable level of performance. Monitor the FSTD performance metrics, analyzing trends and coordinate corrective actions where necessary.
  • Communication: Keeping their Team informed about Company communications and SIM OPS department activities.
  • FSTD Project Management: Plan and manage maintenance and engineering project activities on the FSTDs. Plan and manage the programmatic aspects of the acquisition of new devices and device modification/upgrade. Coordinate FSTD engineering projects including the determination of implementation options such as in house, outside vendor or work share.
  • Financial: Prepare, implement and track department expense and capital budgets, providing forecast and explanations for variances. Prepare the financial justifications, obtain vendor quotes, and obtain or generate supporting rationale required for capital projects. Coordinate acquisition of new devices and device modifications through bidding, proposal review, vendor selection, project award and contractual terms and agreements Analyze device modification projects options for best practice and best financial solutions (in house, vendor or work share).

Qualifications

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience
  • Engineering, Finance, Maintenance or a related field
  • Minimum 4 years demonstrated ability to interface with technical work and work groups in the operation and maintenance of commercial flight simulators.
  • Working knowledge of FAR 121 flight crew training and 14 CFR PART 60.
  • Minimum 5 years experience operating under an FAA approved SQMS program under 14 CFR PART 60
  • Minimum 10 years experience managing employees working under collective bargaining agreements, as well as management and administrative employees.
  • Basic understanding of purchasing and service contract negotiations with vendors.
  • Knowledge and experience in organizational development
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Access, and Project.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

  • Working knowledge and experience interfacing with corporate Finance, Contracting, Purchasing, HR, Labor, and Legal organizations.
  • Experience in purchasing and service contract negotiations with vendors.
  • Experience creating and managing corporate budgets (expense and capital).


The salary for this position is $143,000 to $193,600 dependent on job-related, equal opportunity factors such as experience, education and skills. This range is based on a full-time schedule.
