Job Description


Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)
The fleet supervisor is responsible for vehicles and equipment, overseeing facility maintenance within their defined area of responsibility. They also have primary environmental compliance responsibility for their area. Specific tasks include managing the work of fleet garage mechanics and vendors who are engaged in maintenance and overhaul of motorized equipment; handling all building maintenance contracts; and overseeing many environmental compliance activities. This position is responsible for the safe operating practices of the workforce.


Responsibilities


Typical Duties
Ensure all fleet in assigned area are maintained according to the company's preventive maintenance schedule. Ensure all maintenance data is entered accurately in M/4 fleet management system. Optimize internal and vendor resources to appropriately service and maintain our fleet.


Coordinate vehicle and equipment replacement requests by educating operations employees on equipment capabilities, ownership options and recommendation of expected utilization ratios. Assure that all used fleet equipment assigned to area is disposed of properly.

Manage all contracts for the maintenance of their assigned facility including plumbing, electrical, overhead doors, janitorial, trash collection, lawn mowing, heating and cooling, parking lot maintenance, snow removal and others as needed.

Perform administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department including selecting and developing employees, meeting organizational goals and objectives, reporting on and improving the work performed within the department, ensuring all mechanics have received needed technical training.

Handle activities to ensure compliance with all environmental regulations for their area.

Directing personnel in the safe and efficient procedures, administrating union contract and enforcing safety rules, selection and development of employees, employee counseling and motivation, and reporting the work performed within the department.

Fulfill on-call supervisor roll for local operations emergency response needs, if necessary.

Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of human performance improvement techniques.

Evaluate present practices and implement processes, concepts, training and tools to prevent, detect and correct human errors that may adversely impact the safe, reliable operation of the electric transmission and distribution system.


Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in business or related major or equivalent work experience (Typically six years of equivalent related work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree).

Six years of related experience, including one year in a senior technical/leadership role.

Knowledge of fleet, environmental regulations and facilities maintenance.

Effective oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.

Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.

Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

Strong personal computer skills including proficiency in PEDS, M4, Word, Excel and Access.

Valid driver's license, ability to travel extensively throughout the MidAmerican Energy Company service areas.
