Strategic Analysis, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Biotechnology Intelligence Analyst (Sr. Scientist/Engineer) to join our dynamic team and support the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s Biological Technologies Office (DARPA BTO). As a Biotechnology Intelligence Analyst, you will be responsible for researching, analyzing, and disseminating information related to the latest advancements in biotechnology. You will play a critical role in keeping our organization informed of the emerging trends, market developments, competitive landscapes, regulatory changes in the biotechnology industry, and technological developments of our adversaries. Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough research on the latest advancements and breakthroughs in biotechnology through various sources such as scientific journals, industry publications, patents, and conference proceedings.
  • Analyze and interpret complex scientific data, literature, and market reports to identify trends, potential opportunities, and risks in the biotechnology sector.
  • Analyze a variety of information and intelligence of threats facing the systems, assets, and resources critical to the national defense and develop research studies and recommendations.
  • Create detailed reports, presentations, and strategic recommendations based on research findings to guide decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide insights and support business strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate competitor activities, product launches, and intellectual property portfolios in the biotechnology industry.
  • Stay up to date with regulatory requirements and changes in the biotechnology sector and ensure compliance with relevant laws and guidelines.
  • Provide expertise and guidance on scientific and technological aspects to internal stakeholders.
  • Provide analytical assessments of potential biotechnology threats to the U.S. to the Office Director for evaluation of potential solution development.
  • Provide additional analysis in response to specific threats and incident reports, as needed.
  • Maintain situational awareness of adversary biotechnology developments in emerging technology to enable prevention of strategic surprise by the adversary or creation of strategic surprise to exploit an adversary weakness.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in biotechnology, molecular biology, biochemistry, synthetic biology, or a related field; Ph.D. preferred.
  • Proven experience in research and analysis within the biotechnology or life sciences industry
  • Strong knowledge of biotechnology concepts, methodologies, and application
  • Proficient in using scientific databases and data mining techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret complex scientific information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarize and present technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using software applications such as Microsoft Office, data visualization tools, and scientific databases.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and guidelines related to biotechnology research and development.
  • This position requires the candidate to possess, or be able to obtain, a TOP SECRET with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance. Selected candidate may be required to undergo a Counterintelligence Scope Polygraph (CI Poly) examination at any time during employment. Preference may be given to those who currently possess a TS/SCI clearance.
  • 5+ years' experience working in the U.S. Intelligence Community (USIC) as a research analyst, intelligence analyst, or similar analytical position. Preference given to those working in, or previous experience in biotechnology research and intelligence analysts' positions. Candidates with less than 5 years of relevant experience may be considered.
