Highlights of the job

We are looking to hire our new Operations Supervisor to our growing team in Texas. This person will oversee all operations and maintenance of our New State of The Art Wastewater Reclamation Facility in Taylor, TX. They will perform complex tasks involving problem-solving and situational responses, and provide guidance, mentorship, and direction to our Water/Wastewater Treatment Operators IV (Leads), Operator II and Operator I, & Thermal Operators.

What you'd be responsible for:

  • Responsible for the oversight and day-to-day operation of the operations staff.
  • Participate in the operation, maintenance, control and repair of all related plant processes including;
    • High rate settling clarifiers (Densadeg)
    • Ammonia scrubbers
    • Ion exchange
    • Ultra filtration
    • Reverse osmosis
    • Ozone
    • AOP w/ UV & H2O2
    • Thermal brine concentrator and crystallizer's
    • Screw press, centrifuge and filter press
    • Activated sludge
  • Ensures treated water and effluent meets County, State and EPA quality standards.
  • Ensure operations staff receives all required site safety training.
  • Monitor operator's performance and provide annual performance reviews to staff.
  • Review and understand sample data including pH, CL2, Ammonia, Chloride, Fluoride, Sulfate, Conductivity, alkalinity, hardness, BOD, COD, DO, TSS, TDS and similar tests to provide operational guidance when needed.
  • Monitor water quality and lab results to manage processes and ensures process adjustments are done in accordance with established policies and ensures the operational plan is communicated to all shifts.
  • Ensures there is an operational plan for correcting operational out of spec water and ensure procedure are understood by staff.
  • Conduct various tests to determine proper chemical feed rates, calculate chemical feed rates and change pump settings as needed.
  • Maintain chemical inventory supply, and make requests for new or replacement orders.
  • Operate, monitor and adjust as necessary all related plant process equipment, including chemical pumps. Monitor and operate telemetry and SCADA systems.
  • Coordinates with maintenance staff to ensure process equipment is in a state to allow for maintenance activities per operational documents.
  • Assist in the safe unloading and storage of chemicals, and change out chemical totes when necessary.
  • Prepare necessary relevant spreadsheets and word documents using various software programs as required for daily reports.
  • Ensure Utility facility emergency procedures and Occupational hazards and safety precautions are adhered too.
  • Fills in for Operations Manager during absence.
  • Perform other duties as required.
What's required to be successful:
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Water or Wastewater Grade B or higher licensing from TCEQ or the ability for reciprocity
  • 10 years of industrial experience with similar systems will be accepted in place of the TCEQ licensing
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in water/wastewater operations.
  • Valid Texas Driver's license required, with good driving record
  • Able to pass respirator fit test within 6 months
  • Complete OSHA/safety training as required.
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) advanced computerized systems utilized in water treatment, pumping, and storage facilities, SCADA, CMMS.
  • Experience in operational methods, practices, techniques and servicing requirements of wastewater and water treatment and pumping facilities.
  • Experience in and around operational procedures, materials, tools, and equipment associated with treatment facilities.
  • Knowledge of how to perform standardized water laboratory analyses.
  • Safety practices in the operation of electrical and mechanical equipment used in water or wastewater facilities, and OSHA guidelines related to large treatment facilities.
  • Perform accurate arithmetic computations, standardized wastewater laboratory analyses, read and interpret meters, charts, gauges and recording devices.
  • Ability to develop and review standard operating procedures (SOP's)
  • Ability to work overtime, weekend, and holiday emergency call-outs and on-call duty.
