EMT Medical Director

in anticipation for a future position at

Camp Bullis in San Antonio, Texas.

EMT Medical Director Requirements:

Possession of a valid license as a physician and ability to practice in the State of Texas. Registered as an EMS medical director with the Texas Department of State Health Services. Have at least two (2) or more years of experience in emergency department practice including trauma, stroke, and STEMI services. Active or recent (within the last five (5) years) work as an emergency department physician. If currently employed by a hospital system, may be employed, and working in a non-managerial position within a Bexar County hospital or local Military Hospital. Must be available for Bi-Monthly onsite meetings located at Camp Bullis. Have at least one (1) year of experience in an administrative staff capacity with an advanced level of responsibility working in the administration and management of an emergency medical services program. Have two (2) years of experience working with multi-disciplinary committees. Single individual or agency responses only. No collaborations, partnerships, multi-agency, or fiscal sponsorship responses will be accepted.

Desirable Qualifications/Certifications/Continued Education: Board certified in Emergency Medicine. Member of the Texas Medical Association (TMA), American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), National Association of EMS Physicians and/or Emergency Medical Director Association (NAEMSP/EMDA). Familiar with and knowledgeable in prehospital protocols, system issues, quality improvement processes, case review and disciplinary issues. Formal continuing medical education (CME) in EMS medical direction Board certification in Emergency Medical Services by the American Board of Medical Specialties or a Certificate of Added Qualification in EMS by the American Osteopathic Association Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists; or DSHS approved EMS medical director course. EMT Medical Director Job Duties:

Establish and monitor compliance with field performance guidelines for EMS personnel. Establish and monitor compliance with training guidelines which meet or exceed the minimum standards set forth in the Texas Department of State Health Services EMS certification regulations. Develop, implement, and revise protocols and/or standing delegation orders, if appropriate, governing prehospital care and medical aspects of patient triage, transport, transfer, extrication, rescue, and radio-telephone-telemetry communication by the EMS.
