Overview

About the Company:

The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for implementing, maintaining and updating all aspects of the cost accounting system. As a Senior Cost Accountant in a large manufacturing company, you will play a critical role in analyzing, monitoring, and reporting on our manufacturing costs. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cost accounting within the manufacturing industry, a strong analytical mindset, and exceptional attention to detail.

The position will be heavily involved in the month end close process.



Responsibilities

Responsible for normal month end close cost accounting duties to include but are not limited to:

  • Perform month end close activities related to Cost Accounting- Journal entries, variance analysis, reconciliations, calculating metrics, and ad hoc reporting.
  • Generate PPV reports and analyze findings.
  • Lead inventory management activities, including cycle counts, annual physical and reconciliations.
  • Manage and analyze manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor and overhead expenses.
  • Establish standard costs and update them as appropriate- Set up new raw material, packaging, WIP, and FG items; create and maintain production BOMs; maintain periodic cost rolls/updates.
  • Conduct regular variance analysis to identify cost drivers and areas for improvement
  • Work with internal and external auditors when required- Assist in developing and documenting policies and procedures, including
  • system requirements and internal controls.
  • Develop, manage, and improve standard costing systems for accurate product costing.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes related to manufacturing expenses.
  • Prepare and present cost reports to senior management, highlighting key insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with production teams to optimize processes and reduce manufacturing costs.


Qualifications

  • Minimum BA/BS in Finance/Accounting/ Economics
  • Must have 5 years of Cost Accounting experience including 3 years in a manufacturing environment. Ability to organize workload and manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Team player with strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated respect for culture of ethics and compliance.
  • Advanced Excel, Access, and other Microsoft Office skills.
  • Current experience with Oracle and Hyperion is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to self-start on various analytical projects, including research, investigation, modeling including presentation of findings to management and site leadership
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
