Position Summary:

Henderson State University Department of Curriculum and Instruction announces a full-time, position available in the Teachers College to begin August 2024. The successful candidate will teach a range of courses in the Curriculum and Instruction core curriculum and the Elementary Education major. Possible courses include EDU 2423 Introduction to Education, EDE 4413 Social Studies in the Elementary Classroom, EDE 4423 Science in the Elementary Classroom, EDE 4433 Math/STEM in the Elementary Classroom, EDE 6013 Advanced Elementary STEM Methods I, and EDE 6023 Advanced Elementary STEM Methods II.

The Education program offers undergraduate and graduate degrees. The Curriculum and Instruction Department administers core coursework for all undergraduate teacher education programs offered across the university.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work in the clinical setting supervising candidates.
  • Continue our existing positive relationships with the teachers and principals at local K-6 schools.
  • Teach courses on the Hot Springs campus in the evening, face-to-face, and hybrid.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to teach in the general education curriculum at Henderson.
  • Provide academic advising to students


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Ability to teach a broad range of education courses, including teaching methods courses. Demonstrated ability to teach using multiple formats, including synchronous and asynchronous online, blended, and face-to-face, sometimes using Zoom and face-to-face at the same time for the same class to reach remote students. Excellent understanding of American educational systems and classrooms. Candidates should have effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including working collaboratively with colleagues and students. Organizational, human relations, and technological skills are expected.

Minimum Qualifications:

An earned master's degree or doctorate (preferred) in education or related areas from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.

Experience teaching in the elementary classroom is required, and licensure (or the qualifications for licensure) is desirable.

Experience teaching, advising, and supervising education students at the undergraduate and graduate levels desired
