Employee Type: Regular The successful engineering candidate will be responsible for assisting in the development of long-range and short-range engineering plans, including reserve calculations, mine plans, cost projections, equipment analysis, production reporting, coal quality projections, and permitting. Job Description: Essential Duties: Develop long-range and short-range mine plans, reclamation plans, and coal loading plans. Coordinate short-range mine plans with operations. Develop mine models using geologic models, and calculate reserve and quality information. Assist with cost projections and development of Annual Mine Plans and Life-of-Mine Plans. Assist with mine site production reporting. Design and oversee construction of haul roads, various water management structures, and other support facilities. Develop equipment specifications, perform economic analysis, and make recommendations on equipment selection and replacement. Assist with mine permitting, including groundwater and surface water hydrology, probable hydrologic consequences, mining and reclamation plans, and post-mining topography development. Write reports using engineering results and analysis. Prepare presentations for employees, management, and customers. Performs job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures and state and federal environmental regulations. Other Duties: Conduct mine tours. Administer various contracts. Interface with vendors, sales representatives, and customers. Provide support and assistance to operations, maintenance, and environmental. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of surface mining operations including: equipment operating characteristics, geology and slope stability, and safety and environmental regulations. Ability to make presentations both in-house and to customers. Good verbal and written communications skills. Thorough knowledge of computers and software including AutoCAD, Carlson Software, Excel, and Word. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently for extended periods of time. Strong problem-solving skills. Education and Experience: A Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field.
