Description:

Position Overview: As a CDL Truck Driver, your primary responsibility is to safely transport goods from one location to another while adhering to company policies, state regulations, and safety guidelines. You will utilize your driving skills, mechanical knowledge, and regulatory understanding to ensure efficient and secure transportation of cargo. Work collaboratively with the Shipping Department to fulfill transportation needs efficiently. Our drivers go back home every day.

Key Responsibilities:

· Safely operate commercial vehicles, prioritizing safety and adherence to traffic laws.

· Execute precise maneuvers, including safe turns, backing into tight spaces, and changing lanes.

· Maintain appropriate following distance and adjust driving behavior according to road conditions.

· Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections to ensure the mechanical integrity of the vehicle.

· Perform basic maintenance tasks such as checking tire pressure, fluid levels, and diagnosing minor issues.

· Familiarity with air brake systems, heating/cooling systems, and vehicle lighting.

· Maintain fuel levels in the truck and trailers, ensuring availability for scheduled routes.

· Stay informed and compliant with all applicable state and federal regulations, including DOT and FMCSA guidelines.

· Understand and adhere to company policies and specific job-related regulations (e.g., HazMat).

· Prepare for and pass DOT exams, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of regulations.

· Uphold quality, food safety, and facility cleanliness standards at all times.

· Plan efficient routes considering factors such as traffic, weather, and delivery schedules.

· Utilize available resources, including trip planning apps, to optimize travel time and minimize delays.

· Maintain accurate records and update estimated time of arrival (ETA) as necessary.

· Proficiently operate Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) and other relevant computer programs.

· Ensure accurate logging of hours of service and compliance with electronic logging requirements.

· Make informed decisions under pressure, addressing unforeseen challenges such as traffic congestion or inclement weather.

· Stay patient and adaptable while prioritizing safety in all situations.

· Effectively communicate with supervisors, customers, and colleagues regarding delays or issues.

· Provide clear and concise information to facilitate efficient problem resolution and decision-making.

· Efficiently manage time to meet delivery deadlines and comply with Hours-of-Service regulations.

· Implement effective time management strategies to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.

· Maintain situational awareness to anticipate and respond to potential hazards on the road.

· Ensure personal well-being through proper rest, nutrition, and physical activity.

· Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of job duties, including documentation and vehicle maintenance.

· Identify and address potential issues proactively to prevent future complications.

· Offer assistance and support to fellow drivers, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

· Have and maintain a valid CDL license with clean driving record.

· Prior experience in commercial driving preferred.

· Knowledge of relevant regulations and safety protocols.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 60 pounds).

· Excellent physical stamina and endurance for long periods of driving.

· Clear vision and hearing for safe operation of vehicles.

· Physical ability to perform tasks including standing, walking, lifting, and operating powered industrial equipment.

Working Conditions:

· Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

· Extensive travel and exposure to varying weather conditions.

· Adherence to strict safety protocols and regulations.

· Willingness to work in below 30 degrees temperatures and exposure to cold environments.

· Ability to don and use Personal Protective Equipment as required.
