Our client is a renowned manufacturer of industrial equipment and machinery, with a focus on providing high-quality solutions for the oil and gas industry. They are looking to add an Engineering Manager to join their team in Houston, TX. This opportunity is a Direct Hire role that comes with several perks including full benefits, paid holidays, and paid time off.

The Rods Engineering Manager will oversee the engineering and technical needs of the sucker-rod segment of the company and will directly report to the product line manager. The Rods Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading and expanding an engineering team, as well as facilitating and working with the quality and manufacturing engineering functions. The Rods Engineering Manager will interface regularly with Technical Services, Manufacturing, Production Control, and adjacent functions to synergize total business efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, develop, and expand the rod engineering group to meet business objectives. Hire, coach, mentor, motivate and supervise team members to promote their development and proficiency
  • Lead, own, organize, and execute on the engineering strategic inputs, managing budget and resource requirements
  • Manage, improve, and expand the company PDM system
  • Responsible for data analytics for strategic integration in different areas of the business, including but not limited to manufacturing, ERP systems, inventory planning etc.
  • Develop technical requirements, designs, and validation of new products and accessories to meet customer needs.
  • Reviewing product designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related industry specifications
  • Providing technical support to Manufacturing, Sales, and Technical Services teams
  • Managing and executing engineering change orders through the company PDM
  • Developing prototypes and test plans to validate new product offerings
  • Validating design changes or new suppliers through analysis and testing
  • Participating/conducting design reviews; providing technical feedback using appropriate tools, i.e. FMEA, field and lab testing
  • Supporting failure analysis investigations and the implementation of the corresponding corrective actions
  • Support the continuous improvement process by conducting effective root cause investigation and analysis, implementing corrective / preventative actions, and maintaining quality metrics for monitoring and measuring

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience in design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical drawings including GD&T & 3D CAD
  • Experience with rod failure analysis and providing technical training to customers upon request.
  • Project management experience with an aptitude for being a self-starter and balancing/prioritizing multiple projects at once
  • 10+ years of experience
