We want your knowledge and expertise!Job Summary and QualificationsAs a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), you will be responsible for performing moderate and high complexity testing for use in patient diagnosis and treatment of disease. You will analyze, review, and report test results and quality control results, and take remedial action when indicated, and ensure specimen integrity through proper handling and processing.You will handle and transport specimens as appropriate to the ordered testsYou will ensure positive identification of each patient and respective samplesYou will correctly receive specimens and print specimen labelsYou will troubleshoot test systems and take appropriate actionsYou will communicate the need for supplies, receive all supplies, and rotate supplies appropriatelyYou will perform and document scheduled and unscheduled maintenanceYou will identify problems which may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test resultsJob RequirementsEducationAssociate’s degree in Laboratory or Medical Laboratory Technology AND a graduate of an accredited school of Medical Laboratory Technology or Medical Laboratory ScienceORHigh school graduate or equivalent AND laboratory training or experience consisting of successful completion of a 50-week military training program having served as a Medical Laboratory SpecialistLicenses and CertificationsCertification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), or as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) by the National Certification Agency for Clinical Laboratory Personnel (NCA), or equivalent – preferredSt. David's South Austin Medical Center, which is part of St. David's HealthCare.
