Job Summary

The Medical Affairs Manager (MAM) is a key member of the medical affairs team, driving the successful execution of the medical affairs plan. This role demands strong project management skills to proactively coordinate data analysis, publication development, training material creation, and the smooth operation of key meetings and conferences. Scientific competence is essential. This role reports to the Director, Medical Affairs and is based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.

Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Oversee and execute projects related to data analysis, publication development, training material creation, and the operation of key meetings and conferences. Meticulously track deadlines, budgets, and vendor contracts.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with the field medical affairs team (MSLs), internal functions (e.g., clinical, regulatory, commercial, legal), venues, and vendors to achieve project goals.
  • Scientific Communication: Capture key scientific messages, assist in the development of educational courses and training materials.
  • Congress Representation: Represent Liquidia and the medical affairs function at medical information booths, addressing questions and coordinating scientific exchange.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Assist with collaborating with the Managed Care account team to support scientific exchange with payer organizations, state Medicaid meetings, IDNs, and the VA/DOD.
  • Internal Training: Assist in developing and executing internal clinical training for the commercial team, providing data and research support for promotional plans.
  • Meeting Management:
    1. Partner with the medical affairs team and speakers to develop scientific content for key meetings.
    2. Build speaker relationships and maintain tracking systems.
    3. Create planning calendars, coordinate vendor selection and communication, oversee contracts.
    4. Develop draft budgets, manage meeting budgets, and report on variances.
    5. Manage bid processes (RFPs), facilitate contract negotiations, and handle venue selection and contract management.
    6. Act as the primary contact for meeting venues, both during planning and on-site.
    7. Prepare comprehensive reports on meeting data, expenses, and lessons learned.
Education and Experience
  • BS Degree
  • Minimum of five years of experience in pharmaceutical industry required.
  • Experience interpreting and presenting scientific data required.
  • Scientific aptitude and familiarity with product development required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Project Management experience
  • Medical affairs, medical communications agency experience is a plus
  • Budget management experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated aptitude for "hands-on" approach
  • Proven history as a self-starter with excellent communication skills
  • Experience with supporting projects from late-stage product development through commercial launch preferred
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively within a cross functional team and across levels within an organization
  • Ability to summarize data and results for business and technical audiences
  • Up to 30% domestic travel
