RSI Leasing, recently acquired by Trinity Industries Inc, is currently hiring a Fork Lift Operator in our Buffalo, NY Terminal.
The Fork Lift Operator's primary responsibility is to safely and timely unload rail cars to trucks and warehouses, within the terminal facility. The Terminal Operator will understand, and follow, operating procedures and policies.
Responsibilities / Job Duties:
The Terminal Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the daily unloading of materials consisting currently of lumber and railroad tie products. (Transload)
Must have the ability to understand and follow operating procedures and policies
Ability to operate rail car loading systems
Willingness in being cross-trained on all functions at the terminal facility
Must possess a strong work ethic and the willingness to follow procedures. Be able to keep the work area clean and organized
Must not be afraid to ask questions. Needs to be able to accurately fill out all necessary paperwork
Enforce all safety policies and procedures with other employees and visitors
The ability to perform general maintenance on equipment, as necessary
Work independently and in a team professionally
Interact with customers, railroad crews, and visitors, in a professional manner
Requirements/Qualifications:
Ability to read, write, and understand English
Perform basic math skills
Light computer skills would be a plus
Possess a current valid Driver's License
Capable of learning how to operate and maintain rail car and trans-loading equipment (hoses, portable conveyors, small to medium-sized equipment, etc.).
Must have a willingness to learn new skills and be teachable
Understanding of Safety procedures and practices - Safety is the #1 priority
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Minimum 1-2 years of experience handling bulk material, especially lumber material
Physical Requirements:
Physically able to climb up and down rail cars and ladders, safely.
Have the ability to work outside in ALL weather conditions (snow, rain, sub-freezing temps, etc).
Can carry at least fifty (50) pounds.
Ability to walk one (1) to two (2) miles per shift.
