Overview:

The Palliative Care RN is a member of a strong interdisciplinary approach to patient care. The person in this position will participate with the palliative care team, which is designed to help the medically complex and/or chronically ill patients and family members make informed medical decisions. In collaboration with the Palliative Care Manager, medical staff and nursing staff, the Palliative Care Nurse monitors the clinical care of patients and provides support to improve patient care and patient outcomes. Incorporated within each of these role functions, the Palliative Care Nurse is a professional role model, patient advocate, educator and champion for effective patient pain and symptom control. The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during and after severe weather and/or disasters.

Qualifications:
  • ASN or nursing diploma is required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years acute care hospital experience is required.
  • RN licensed in the state of Florida is required.
  • CHPN certification is required within nine (9) months of hire/transfer.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Ability to function autonomously and to adapt to constantly changing unpredictable situations and varying workload.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve conflict.
  • Demonstrated excellence in working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary patient care team.
  • Desire to work with end-of-life care and chronically ill patients.
