**Position** : Production Planning Supervisor

**General Purpose**

Provide supervision to employees in the production plant. Work with managers of other departments and serve as a liaison to oversee the planning of production and run schedules to ensure that customer demands and production needs are met in a timely manner.

**Schedule**

Sunday-Thursday, 11:00pm-7:30am

**Job Duties and Responsibilities**

+ Supervise or participate in the development of the master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates for customer demands

+ Supervise or participate in the analysis of production specifications and plant capacity data while monitoring the mathematical calculations performed to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and manpower requirements.

+ Translate orders into a sequential work schedule and monito variance reports. Communicate discrepancies to appropriate area leaders.

+ Plan and schedule workflow for each department and operation according to previously established production sequences and lead times.

+ Maintain sequence of operations and update as changes occur.

+ Expedite operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.

+ Ensure WIP paperwork is completed in a timely manner.

+ Verify customer production orders are received and met on a timely basis consistent with customer demands

+ Compile data and facts on inventory level and advise management on appropriate plan for increasing or reducing inventory levels as needed to achieve company goals

+ Review and recommend scheduling revisions to meet changes in production forecasts and product inventory supplies

+ Coordinate the activities associated with this function in order to meet customer (internal and external) requirements in an efficient manner

+ Maintain and improve all warehouse facilities and equipment to acceptable standards that support production requirements

+ Develop and implement material standards and the necessary control and inspection procedures to improve product quality and reduce downtime

+ Actively communicate with employees through shift meetings and informal methods

+ Proactively look for ways to increase operational efficiency and contain costs. Think creatively and abstractly to develop alternative possibilities to drive improvement

**Education and Experience**

+ Undergraduate degree in business or related curriculum (or equivalent combination of experience and education)

+ 2 to 5 years of production planning or related experience coupled with demonstrated leadership attributes or team leadership experience; supervisor experience preferred

+ Certification and/or License may be required during course of employment

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**

+ Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training, and personnel management

+ Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems

+ Able to influence people in their opinions, attitudes, or judgments

+ Able to inspire others to meet goals and commitments

+ Able to identify problems, take appropriate steps to find solutions, and implement solutions

+ Knowledge and understanding of planning and production methodologies

+ Strong understanding of plant processes in relation to production processes for each line

+ Able to communicate with various levels of personnel to ensure customers needs and requirements are met

+ Skill in analytical thinking

+ Able to interact positively and work effectively with others (interpersonal skills)

+ Must be able to read, write and speak English
