JOB DESCRIPTION
Job title: GLOBAL MATERIAL PLANNING MANAGER
Summary/Objective: The Global Material Planning Manager will oversee all aspects of the daily planning and buying of materials for all released operations within the organization. Will manage a team and contribute to the long-term goals of the organization by driving strategic projects. The primary focus is to ensure that strategic material planning processes and optimized material flows are in place to enable operational continuity, scalability, and inventory cost optimization. The successful candidate must be able to prioritize amongst competing demands and execute soundly at a high-level of execution. Balancing the operational and strategic elements of planning will be an ongoing imperative.
Essential Functions/ Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage the material teams who execute global material planning and procurement of all production bill of materials for released products.
  • Coordinate and work with quality, engineering, production operations, sourcing, and sales, to ensure on-time delivery and lead time targets are met by providing input/direction on all aspects of material flow including transactions, planning, scheduling, cost, and quality.
  • Enforce the use of MRP and maintenance of MRP master data parameters to ensure accurate demand signals (i.e. lead times, MOQs, lot sizes, reorder points, safety stock, etc.); identify and resolve system and/or BOM inaccuracies to preserve data integrity.
  • Participate in and champion MRP development/enhancement activities, including specification writing, development, testing, and training.
  • Identify and communicate potential supply risks and collaborate with Production, Sourcing, Quality, Sales, and Engineering teams to investigate and resolve issues.
  • Control inventory to optimized working capital and product availability for the entire business.
  • Develop Operational Inventory strategies as derivatives of the corporate and sales strategies including detailed KPI reports.
  • Lead end-of-life activities for materials with low or no usage. Recommend run out plans for in-house and supplier owned materials.
  • Determine optimum stocking levels of new materials that will be used to support product launches.
  • Adhere to established company policies, procedures, terms and conditions and legal matters that affect purchasing policies.

Required Experience:
  • 5-10 Years supervisory experience in supply chain, material planning, procurement, or production planning/scheduling in an ultra dynamic, high mix manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with creating / managing complex algorithms to drive planning and inventory strategies, specifically within automated systems and utilizing machine learning capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in developing, implementing, and assessing key planning and operational metrics. Strong critical thinking and resolution skills in ambiguous and complex situations.
  • Demonstrated resilience and capacity to lead a team through periods of change.
  • Passionate and high energy, with the diplomacy and cooperative style necessary to positively influence others, both inside and outside of operations.
Education:
  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or equivalent work experience.
  • APICS or equivalent trade certification is preferred.
Training required:
  • On the job training as appropriate
