Position: Buyer

On-Site Position: Plaistow, NH


Spartronics is seeking a Buyer for our Plaistow, NH location. In this role you will perform specialized or diversified procurement functions required supply material in accordance with Corporate Polices and Procedures; using the lowest reasonable price, ensuring the maximum quality goods delivered on-time to support manufacturing.

What a Day Looks Like:

  • Analyze multiple requirements which satisfy the requirements of the requesting program or department and are in the best interest of the company.
  • Support and coordinate those activities related to the material quoting process i.e. Requesting quotes from suppliers as applicable based on estimates provided by Program Manager(s). Providing completed material quote, including data entering of supplier costs and applicable information. Finalizing quote to customer along with Program Manager.
  • Place POs per customer requirements using MRP info and maintain all PO changes. Communicate any changes from suppliers to Program Manager that affect pricing/lead time.
  • Ensure flow-down requirements and required documentation is provided with Quote / PO.
  • May assist other individuals in expediting delinquent shipments and resolving other associated problems. May provide work direction and/or assist in training other employees in the department.
  • Maintain the supplier, manufacturer, and commodity tables in Visual Manufacturing for accurate data and consistency.
  • Prepare supplier RFQ's from system generated estimates and/or excel spreadsheets along with information provided by Program Manager(s).
  • Coordinate / communicate with suppliers for pricing and delivery information via phone, email.
  • Resolve supplier quality issues, purchase order accounting issues and problem receipts.
  • Travel, as required, to meet with Suppliers and other appropriate representatives to discuss and satisfy matters that cannot be taken care of in the plant.
  • Responsible for determining material requirements from engineering and production schedules.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory level, to achieve Cash Flow requirements and to satisfy customer/production commitments.
  • Work independently and arrive at decisions in line with company policies of good, ethical purchasing practices.
  • May negotiate short- and long-term contracts, agreements, and blanket purchase orders.
  • May make presentations to customers (internal/external) and to management on the status of commodities and projects.
  • Analyze market trends for assigned Commodities, as applicable.
  • Develop and implement tactical plans, schedule, and prepare management and analysis reports on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis, as applicable.
  • May assist in the direction of the procurement activity of the department and training of developing buyers.
  • Perform other related duties assigned by management to support the procurement process.
  • Be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, follow directions and complete tasks in a timely manner.
Requirements:
  • BA/BS in related field or CPIM/CSCP preferred.
  • 5 years' experience in related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience and successful results in negotiation skills and strategies
  • Knowledge of supply sources and marketing conditions in various commodities.
  • Thorough understanding of operations principles (JIT, MRP, TQC, Lean) required.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Must possess a thorough technical understanding of the various commodities assigned.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point).
  • Knowledge of Visual Manufacturing is a plus.
  • Knowledge of defense procurement helpful.
